Oculus Rift. What kind of computer set up is ideal/minimum

I'm curious about the performance people have been having with ED and the rift and what kind of graphics cards/processors are being used. My rift should be here in about a week and I'm trying to predict what kind of performance I can expect as well as advising a few of my friends who are also curious.

My Specs

Cpu: i7-4770
GPU: Asus Geforce GTX 780ti
Ram: 16gb

My roommate has a 770. Has anyone tried using the rift on a 770?

The general consensus seems to be that you need GTX 970 or better. Your 780Ti looks to be about as fast as a 970, so you should be good to go.

CPU is not all that important, I have i7 4770T (running at 2.7GHz, turbo boost up to 3.8GHz), and running Elite Dangerous takes about 30% of my CPU power.

With your specs, you should get a good performance with the rift, your room mate will still be able to run with the rift but will certainly need to notch down the graphic settings.

I had a 770 but didn't take me long before I was upgrading it to gain better performance

980 used on kijiji or local classified is a smart option, vs buying a brand new 970...
just make sure to get their receipt/proof of purchase and you will be able to RMA if it dies within the warantee period.

the difference in performance for ED from 970 to 980 is apparent. (few hundred mhz doesnt sound like much for hte $$ but the difference in game should really be noticed)
i havent tried ED yet, as the new 980 imploded my system, but thats all sorted and when i overclocked the 980 i was getting unigene heaven score of 2000!
that is unreal. My unigene max FPS from the 970 to the 980 were staggering... i mean the difference was 50fps on the 970 and 80fps on the 980!

not to mention full 4gb usage, as opposed to the 970's 3.5gb and 500mb leftovers.
(for ED supersampling and such takes more video memory)

but the 780ti should give it a damn fine run for its money, sli 780TI is better than the 980 still. but i think the 780tis are pretty expensive still.

if i had the 780ti, id look for a used 780ti and sli em...depending on my cash flow that month.

compare selling rates of the 780ti vs buying one used vs buying a 970/980 etc

Playing with mostly low, and a few high settings. No DSR, AA and blur off. I get alot of judder while in stations and RES areas even when everything is set to low.
HOWEVER, my Titan X will be here tomorrow :p so we will see how that goes!

ur kidding?

where did you get one??? locally? they are all sold out here in canada...not that i can afford one.. haha

can you tell us your clock speeds and memory speed when your all set up? very interested in knowing how ED runs and what the GPU says!

I've got a vanilla GTX 780. No problems with performance so far with high settings, but I'm out in deep space exploring. Things might change when I'm back in inhabited space and visiting stations again.
