Oculus Runtime and SDK Thread.

I'm glad you're wrong :p

The runtime is backwards compatible, the SDK on the other hand, is not.

For example, if you have 4.1 runtime, it will not work and you will need to upgrade to 4.3+ since Elite uses the 4.3 SDK. Also, If you don't want to upgrade, it's fine. but I haven't had any issues at all with it.

Have you seen any improvements?

all interesting stuff. I am still on 4.2 but maybe now is the time to check out 4.4? From a users perspective, has there been any improvement from 4.2?

(4.3 from what i read was a step back from a users point of view - though I am not saying there were not invisible improvements - but 4.3 seemed to cause crashes and reduced FOV)

thanks

Sorry guys, new to all of this. Do I download the SDK for windows 137mb or do I also have to download the runtime for windows 34mb?

Just need to download the runtime.

Uninstall the current Oculus runtime, restart, install new version, restart.

EDIT: Just saw from another post.... that ED now reads the Config utility for rift which is what Quietman mentioned above. Can anyone else confirm this? I did notice that it does not update in the graphics/settings file in ED.... Maybe this line will be removed in a later ED update....?
Good Luck!!!

I can confirm that changing these settings in the config file makes no difference, to me at least. I think that's a legacy thing isn't it.

I see no difference. I also see no difference whatever I set my IPD to - I've tried both the minimum, maximum, and correct settings.

The main thing I want to resolve is why the pilot's body feels too small - I need everything to look slightly bigger.

Ok, everything installed correctly and running. FOV is exactly the same (good in my case) I wonder if those who had FOV issues just didn't have it setup correctly in the first place?

Change the IPD setting in the Rift's Configuration Utility so that it is slightly smaller, (this will scale the world and it's objects to be slightly larger).

Changing the IPD will NOT change subjective attributes like focus and convergence, (no matter what anyone tells you), those attributes are set by the real physical distance between your eyes and the real physical distance between the lenses, (as well as your eyesight's natural acuity).

Decrease the IPD by .5mm until the scale of the pilot and cockpit feel natural; if you have the ability to stand up and turn around, (be very careful doing this with the Rift on), then look at the cockpit door and determine if you would fit through it.

Set female pilot body. Then you can pretend you are petite girl with small bewbs. Looks actually more realistic than that tiny guy in Crysis nano-suit.
