Oculus sound fix anyone?

My rift is about to be returned and replaced for the third time, really fed up with this fault. It seems it relates to the rift having a carbon ribbon that moves when you adjust for differing head sizes. I have tried to get used to wifi headphones but the sound is never as good as the rift's faulty but impressive headphones. I wondered if anyone out there can confirm that gluing the headset into a permenent position, therefore avoiding the ribbon getting folded, works as a preventative.
I also wonder if anyone out there has a fix whereby its possible just to hard rewire the damn thing to the headphones bypassing the daft ribbon thingy?

I dont really want to glue it in place as I will probably find a reason to regret it later should a viable mend occur.
Thanks in advance
Moc.

I had a problem losing sound in my right Oculus Rift earphone. Found a lot of solutions with a little googling and fixed it by connecting the ground pin on the right earphone to the left earphone’s ground pin with a strand of telephone wire. Unfortunately, it wasn’t a permanent fix.

Well out of warranty, I ended up taking the earphones off the Rift and using desk top speakers instead. This is working well for me because Elite is a game you play while seated and is the only VR game I play on that workstation. Desk top stereo speakers are perfectly adequate to provide an immersive sound experience for seated spaceship flying.

Of course, this won’t work if you also play standing VR games where you are moving around the room as well as looking in different directions. In that case, I’d suggest just keep sending the unit back as long as they will replace it. Won’t be too much longer before it’s obsolete anyway and we all will be upgrading.

Thanks Lee!
Saving my pennies up for a better headset, I’m assuming whatever is the current oculus headset has overcome these problems? Think I may run an extension headset or even go wireless headphones, it’s just another needless phaff because of poor design and no solution.

The current oculus headset replaced this problem by using a shockingly poor audio system. The speaker system is fixed in place but the sound quality is so bad I initially thought it was faulty.

You must let lots of different people use your headset! Maybe you should be more selfish. ;)

I removed my Rift headphones on day one and used my Sennheisers instead.
I don't like using headphones. Having something additional bugs me.
I really miss the CV1 headphones. Not as good as a decent set of sennheisers but I reckon easily good enough for me.
The RiftS on the other hand... Shocking.

Ordered an HP Reverb G2 and even though the sound is supposed to be great, as they are off-ear headphones I shall be taking them off and using on-ear closed back headphones.
I WANT FULL IMMERSHUN!!!

well i looked up sennheisers...blimey o'reilly! I had no idea headphones could cost that...then the missus told me about our daughter's air/ipod/whatever headphones, good grief. I need a lie down.

If find the less on my head the better for 'muh immerhun.' Being off the ear but not sounding rubbish [looking at you Rift S] is huge.
We have tried a bunch of different cans but I personally prefer less on the noggin. The CV1 were ideal. I think the Reverb G2 is going to be even better!
