Oculus Touch Support

Greetings CMDRs,

I have recently played X-Rebirth VR with the Oculus Touch controls alot and was very impressed on how good you can control everything (including ship)with it.
My question is how likely is it that Frontier does implement touch support as well.

Elite: Dangerous does basically support the Touch controllers, but they are nowhere as good as a decent HOTAS. I am hoping that (if or when we get Space Legs) you have the choice of using HOTAS for vehicles and Touch for Avatar control.

I doubt it'll happen though I think it would be an interesting addition. The holo-displays would need reworking if they were to become touch capable - compare how large and how far away they seem in an Eagle to how they are in a 'conda, for example.

As for ship controls, a good example of virtual HOTAS is in a game called VtolVR, you "grab" the stick and throttle and just rest the base of the touch controller on your leg or something - I was surprised at how accurate it was. All the cockpit buttons have a nice little vibrate shake to give you some feedback as well.

I currently do have a x52 pro hotas, but if you get used to control your ship with your handmovements like in x rebirth you can do very precise maneuvers in the first 10 minutes.
Contolling the galaxy map, menus would also be easier with a VR headset on your head. Otherwise I have to take the headset off or have to search the keyboard/mouse.

Yes there are some differences in the ships, but I dont know if it is requiered to add this manuelly in every single ship or if the holo display is just a prefab and only need to be changed/adjusted once.

VtolVR Thanks i will give that a try 😀
