Oculus update 1.15

As discussed, joining Beta, the 1.15 update has downloaded and installed.
I have not even tried the headset yet but it has destroyed the frame-rate for my triple monitor setup. Getting between 7 - 15 fps, inside the station, after this update. It was fine before.
I have had to stop the Oculus VR prgram and its services using Task manager to get the performance back on the monitors (twin GTX 970's with SLI). Not a good first impression.

Will report on the headset later on. Yes, I am going to watch Eurovision for my sins :)

TBH, Elite is really the only game I have constant 'issues' with, as if 'something' is just having trouble keeping up with the tracking - the display often 'microjumps' when looking around, and if I look over my left shoulder, without losing tracking, the display is totally unstable, as if tracking isn't quite sure where I should be. I have no issues with any other game or app.

Oculus doesn't support SLI and it has been known to cause issues for some. Perhaps the beta is reacting to this. You might try disabling sli when in VR. just a thought.

I have sli disabled, 1 sensor, physix to CPU. On Nvidia CP, preferences maximum performance on power setting. Not having any Grey flash. The only one place were I experience problems is for some reason Lori Jameson Base at shinrarta dezra. I do get severe judder and need to restart the client to get rid of it. Only when dropping from glide, and only on that base

By the way, I got a second update yesterday from oculus, still 1.15, but another release

How are you all getting these updates? Mine is still showing 1.14xxxxxx at the bottom of the Settings/General tab.
I even left the PC on all yesterday with the Oculus Home window up but it never updated anything but 2 of the games.
Is it something you have to do manually? I have the Beta Reset option in Settings, if that means anything.

Yeah still some grey jumps here and there but way lesser now.But its only with ED any another VR games works perfect without a grey flash etc.

I had the Public Test 1.15 and its updated to the release version now. What I found was on occasion, E:DD started but had an issue of colours being washed out and sound glitches and I put it down to the software not telling the Sensor my actual position - only happened twice but it then also went on to move me about 90 degress from front. I realized this was actually it's fault and it had lost tracking due to thinking it was in a different orientation. Logging back in would not fix it but restarting the game would. For the first time also I had seen the screen door effect plus god rays. But I knew that it was a failed load of tracking that was the cause and was when I switched from USB2 to USB3 on a new card. I now installed the 2nd Sensor on the previous USB2 and all is pefect at 1m apart.
My thoughts are that USB3 actually draws more power that it needs and is in demand for it because of this. We already know this because it especially suffers over extension cables (even powered) and USB2 is ample.
All in all (and I've told them!) USB2 is adequate and best and old XEON QUADS are also very capable indeed for VR. They have well over speced the "requirements" and not made these even as minimum recommendations due to the SSE4.2 CPU check and it prevents Installation for any that fail. This is an utter con and is force sales for new computers. It's like saying we can not wear leather shoes anymore as there is new synthetic material to make!

Funny, all I ever see is you complain about your setup not working - are you sure it's an utter con? Sounds like you are running an unsupported configuration and have had issues due to it. I don't have a single issue running 3 sensors and the HMD all on USB 3.0 - 2x sensors & HMD on a inatek card, the final sensor on my mobos onboard intel USB 3.0 port - sensors all run on 5Mtr extensions and the HMD on a 3mtr usb extension and 1 mtr HDMI extension.

Great to hear you telling Oculus they are wrong despite their collective knowledge and experience in VR!

Any way, good to hear you have your issues sorted now. Lets hope it stays that way for you.

Same here, before updating everything run fine. Now i lose tracking and some text look blurry.

So its being a while for me since i played this in VR so did they finaly release a patch on the rift or ED game that fixed the grey flashes yet?

Just got 1.17 as an update today (Oculus promped me to download and install the update, then restart Oculus Home). Oculus Home now allows compatible non-Oculus-store software to launch from Oculus Home. After playing ED, it showed up in Oculus Home automatically. But how do I tell Oculus Home to start the launcher instead of the game exe?

I have occasional grey flashes, actually it has been a nightmare for 2 days getting my
rift to work nice, it finally sorted itself out today, just the aforementioned flashes and occasional jitter looking left and right (ship and target schematics both go double along with the contacts tab)
