Oculus update problem

About an hour ago i had an update from oculus 29.0
Tried to play elite odessey i knew there was an hotfix ready but it will not update through oculus
Hangs on installing for more than half an hour now ???
Did a restart of my computer then it was downloading the hotfix but after 100% it still want to install

After trying multiple less drastic suggested fixes that didn't work, I ended up having to uninstall and reinstall the game to get the update.

I founda different workaround a commander posted yesterday but it doesn't fix the Oculus app from seeing ED has been updated. For me I had to go to the ED install folder in the Oculus install folder and rename 2 files, ORID.exe and ORPrompt.exe. I just added a .bak at the end of each file extension. This allowed me to launch the Launcher through Oculus using "Start in Desktop Mode" and then upgrade to the latest patch.
The only issue with this workaround is Oculus doesn't know ED has been updated and will prompt to update. Select "Update Later" and the Launcher will open.
I've tried quite a few fixes and I've been working on computers since I was a kid and work as an IT Manager these days. At the moment, it sounds like the best fix is using @CMDR_Max's fix so everything is installed correctly and Oculus doesn't see old updates. I have been trying to find the file which tells Oculus to update to try changing the versions, hoping it will clear up Oculus seeing the, already installed, update. Just no luck yet...
