Odd music

Occasionally when I enter a system (or sometimes when I drop into normal space), the game plays a short musical clip - a few seconds long. It honestly reminds me of an achievement tone, or for example when you level up in Final Fantasy. :p

Anyone else noticed it?
Any ideas to its purpose?

If I remember right I believe it's the tune when you enter an unexplored system.

Or something like that. There are little audio cues for various things like that. Entering an unexplored system, entering a lawless anarchy system, entering various allegiance systems etc.

It's one of those kinds of things. Not sure which one you're experiencing but, it's something like that.

This music bit always plays when you jump into the last system of a route you've planned, or if you've made a single jump into a different system. If you've plotted a route, the music won't play in any of the systems on the way to your destination.

It's meant to highlight the location. Jumping into an imperial system usually triggers a grandiose music vs say a tribal sounding one of an anarchy.

if you open the system panel each world/star in the system will have its own "tune" depending on what type of world/star it is...

This may be what you are experiencing.

No, the OP is talking about the brief fanfare that plays when you first jump into a star system. And yes, there are different tunes that play, depending on what is in the star system.

I'm sure there was a thread somewhere discussing it, but I can't find it.
