Odd Obelisk Pattern

Note the dual Orb pictogram and the way it flashes. Obelisks like this I have found so far have been decoded using only a single artifact of the same type as the rest of the Obelisk group - that is to say, Obelisks in a Biology Group have been resolved with a single Urn. Obelisks in a Culture group with a single Totem, History with a single casket, language with a single tablet, and technology with a single orb.

I don't know if this is an intentional result, or the result of a bug. It would certainly make sense if it were to show a double flashing pictogram of the sort required, but since that has not been the case in most of these I have found, I suspect a bug instead.

I had a couple of these - hadn't thought of only trying one item - I was assuming a bug -thanks for the info.

To be specific, these sorts of Obelisks have been a part of the Decoding the Ancient Ruins missions from the start. They require only 1 artifact to decode, but can be solved with the correct artifact and ANY inventory item. I've not confirmed the same to hold true in 3.0, but previously, and partially for laughs, I'd scanned single-artifact obelisks with things like an Urn and an Occupied Escape Pod successfully.

Just had two of these pretty much side by side -

Single orb, orb with orb,orb with random item etc all gave the Ram Tah failure message .
Orb and Tablet in this case didnt give a failure - but didnt give anything for Ram Tah.
This seems more like one image was missing - previously I had what was shown in Op's video with two "missing" - but the kind of "afterglow" from them if that makes sense.

It all seems bugged to high heaven atm.
I can confirm I have used a single orb to activate one showing two orb pictograms, but I have also had others where it does not.
I have had a dozen today that will not react to any combination of artifacts, be they the ones pictured or otherwise and some which flat out reject the artifacts shown as incorrect. (Just spent forever trying every combination on a cluster asking for orb relic, orb relic, orb casket with every possible combo rejected)
This is happening in both Ram missions. I am probably going to give up on them. :(

It's hard to know whats a "bug" and what might be actual degradation of these old and damaged obelsiks. The Op's looks to me like a game bug - the second might be deliberate - a "glitch" in old and fading tech.

Those aren't orbs, its the entire symbol, which is usually the background to the other symbols. Most likely bug, unless there's some artifact that goes with that.

I've had that happen a few times. I just used whatever I had on me at the time and it seemed to work. As others have said it's really hard to know what's a bug and what's intentional. The first time I came across it I assumed it was the symbols for "You've already got this one" - but I've yet to confirm that.
