Ode to the little NPCs that couldn't

Oh, little, clueless NPCs.

Here I am, hundreds of LY away from the nearest outpost and you keep spawning. Fine by me, you probably want to see the vastness and the greatness of the Galaxy you live in.

I also do that. You see, I'm an explorer, I scan systems for a living.

But you also interdict me. Oh, little NPCs, you really interdict me a lot. And I almost always manage to evade. I'm asking to myself: why bother to interdict an explorer? Maybe you hold a grudge with me. Wait, I know, I know: back in '200, your grandparents were Police officers. I remember back then, I had fun shooting at an outpost from behind and watch all that little Police Vipers explode by the dozens against the station walls or the planet surface. I laughed and laughed and laughed. The fireworks they put on!

And yet they outsmarted you. Because you see, sometimes I can't evade the interdiction. And you tell me to drop my cargo. I haven't any cargo, you little dumb*** NPC , I don't even have a cargo rack. So you shoot me. But you fly in an Eagle and I fly in a pimped Cobra. I don't even shoot back, I outrun you like a cheetah outruns a sloth.

And so, back to the point: why NPCs interdicts people who can't drop anything and who can only run away or blow them up in 3.2 seconds? Does the AI need to be reworked a little bit?

They are desperate. Imagine a hermit, who has found a peaceful place to live. Away from other people, away from all the civilization... He is happy there.

And suddenly, you come to his system. You scan every inch of it. You gather astronomical and planetary data. And then SELL IT TO AGGRESIVE GOVERMENTS AND GREEDY CORPORATIONS! You are the bad guy here! His only hope is to try to chase you away, using his crappy sidewinder!

You're right.
I accept interdictions in anarchy systems or near the starpost thet buy/sell rare goods (easy money is not funny), but during the exploration where there is no cargo is inconceivable. All NPC should have the cargo scannner and if they find no goods they will go on their way. Currently they are only psychopaths.

Has anyone counted the added number of NPC "people" in the galaxy? I mean there WILL be some psychopaths among those milions of milions, right?

I keep getting mugged at my home system....Haulers, Sidewinders, Asps............but they always seem to leave it until I am on my way home, and near the station....after a hard days hunting at RES, in my A Viper......with still 150 rounds in each gun "just in case"..........all well and good,......
...
But then I got jumped in my Hauler, trying to pick up out of system bounties..............I was empty, zero cargo........Anaconda, bzzzzzz boom.......ho hum...........but thats why I read these forums........cuz I know the game is changing daily, so I take a rental to the outer systems.........aint gonan start losing or grinding for bigger ships over this.
...
This vision of "Space" in the future is closer to the Bronx in the 80s.........the game was'nt like this not so long ago........some value somewhere has been changed, and it is really limiting the game for myself.........
