ODYSSEUS FPS and stance.

Now that the cat is out of the bag, we need to talk about stance,(Standing, Crouching, Prone) and weapon 'posture.

There are many types of FPS out there, some good some not so good, and some are awful.
One that work pretty well in my opinion is ArmA stance system.

It's important to build a good solid base, so the player can use it actively in his or hers game-play, clunky stance ruins many situations because you cannot get a posture that fit the situation you're in. That is where a good fleshed out stance system comes in. Ctrl-W raise you, Ctrl-S lowers you, X=low stand Z=go prone. These are some of the details that you can add to a game to make it more interesting and for the players adding more options to play it "your way".

I don't know how deep FDEV want to make their version of an FPS game, however to add this in the beginning would be a good idea to get it right for the first foot step :)

Can you drop out from a ship? if yes we need a mechanic where you of course can do this, this is another stance mechanic.

We don't use parachutes in the distant future, so that is where the jet packs come in.

A game that was actually good (campaign story mode) was infinite war, it had a basic stance system however it worked well for that type of gameplay, however if FDEV want the playes to do more like stealth and exploration, infiltration, you need more options to make the game more versatile.

I can't wait to see in what direction FDEV want this part of the game to go.

Can we have a rail gun and rocket launcher with fire tween legs launch capability whilst railing the suckers below. Also camp spots. Only accessible via jetpack or rocket propelled tween legs boosts.
Am l spamming a classic or what!!
Quake best PvP fps ever made.

So, people start to worry about which stances will be implemented in ED?
Whether there be a halve-crouched position or just a boring, ordinary crouched?
In a space game, where we once focused on FA-off and flight mechanics?
Is this the direction of the game and the discussions, we will have to expect in the future?

Good grief!

How you can position your body and move it are the FA-off/on and flight mechanics of ground pounding so it is bound to become a subject of reasoned debate followed by entrenched forum diatribe just as soon as everybody works out where the salt can be best mined.

Rather than fiddling with the keyboard, I'd rather physically assume whatever stance I want.

In shooting kinda games I like to go with the Weaver stance that I was taught way back in the army. This gives me nice balance but also lets me quickly spin around 180 degrees or drop down on one knee if I need to.

I want a Titanfall-esque gameplay. It's the year 3300s, we should be able to run on walls without the jetpack, and other parkours

It's so interesting that you mentioned this. I actually played a bit of Warzone with one of my kids trying to brush up on my fps skills. The three position stance system in Warzone seems functional enough, but I look at that ARMA range of motion, and it is very appealing.

On a side note, I was very surprised to see scopes on weapons given that there is the option of a HUD within the helmet for targeting purposes. I guess some tropes never get old.

I hope Frontier doesn't worry about fancy stance until they add a whole crap load of other features in which are considered fun by a wider audience.
