Odyssey 10 Ungrade from Launcher will not complete

I launch the game from the PC launcher (NOT Steam). The Upgrade for Odyssey update10 will not complete but remains on <1% remaining for 24 hours.
Rebooting doesn't help.

The Upgrade for Horizons for the same update worked fine and was quick.

Anyone experienced/fixed this?

I’ve had this occur several times in the past, either some corrupted file, or a drop in internet connection???

Sometimes the game will play if one force quits the install. However FD when contacted advises wipe the game and re-install (instructions are on their website).

Prior to doing any wipe/install you ought to back up your key binds and visited stars catalog, it’s not required but could save some time.

*If the issue is drive space, remember you technically no longer need EDH, if your playing Odyssey, they are separate games and both will take up drive space, I know some like to switch between the two but if this installation issue is due to drive space it could be another reason.

Unfortunately my installation has hit a similar obstacle again. Had to undertake a full wipe of the game and relaunched the installation. Turned off all firewalls etc (as advised by FD) but still nothing. Stuck on 1% for 3 hours!

Nothing else running, plenty of free space, system hits requirements, stable broadband… nothing!

Ticket raised again and FD response provides additional options, if Cmdrs need them:

Downloading via the FD content delivery network can be stalled by a number of things from ISP caching to security software.

Steps to fix:
In the launcher’s Options menu, DISABLE multi-threading and virtual cache.

Ensure Detailed Update Log is ENABLED. Close the launcher. Delete any existing client and update logs.

Type Internet Options into the start menu (or search box on your PC) and press Enter. In the Connections tab, click LAN Settings and make sure that none of the three boxes here are ticked, especially Use a Proxy server.

On the General tab, in the Browsing history section click the Delete... button. Tick Temporary Internet Files and Cookies and website data. Click Delete at the bottom.

Restart your PC and the launcher and resume the update.

Hello.
I bought elite and then horizons on their respective release dates and then odyssey several months after its release.
all bought via the frontier store, in that time i have never had to reinstall any version but every other update i:e Huge, small or even hotfix requires one or two retsarts after the update bar fills and says sync files <1min. some times hours have passed and i have read dozens of support pages.

Everytime and i do mean everytime the solution has been cancel the update,
close launcher,
open default browser I:E chrome, opera,
Clear entire browsing history, download history and most importantly cached images and files, you can leave the other tick boxes empty,
RESTART windows.

Once windows loads start the update again.
for me this has worked many times since 2014.

In the end it turned out FD found that my issue related to a 'Update Failed for file' error, which they identified as occurring usually when an older installation of Elite Dangerous still has some remnants left behind that are interrupting the download.

This is ironic- since I actually performed a full system scrub of ED.

Anyway the fault obviously is with the FD store launcher, because I asked FD about Steam, and they confirmed I could activate my account via this method.

The activation key is available in your FD account and just needs you to login to it.

To my surprise EDH downloaded via steam in record time, 60 mins!

I’ve been playing ED since launch and never seen it download so quickly.

My opinion, is that the FD launcher utilises a certain web domain / server, either with outdated data, or limited connection and that other providers such as Steam rightfully have their own which FD provide up to date data upon launch.
