Odyssey: an explorers curse?

Hi everybody!

I was really looking forward on playing Odyssey. I don´t care about on foot fighting - I am an explorer and I wanted to see the stunning new views from athmospheres and planets. I also wanted to look after biological life, crash sites and so on.

But I cannot - at least not as I wanted to...

I am somewhere around the corner of Beagle Point. Since there is no space station I cannot get myself a shiny new exploration suit with the tools needed to analyse biological life. There are just a handfull of carrieres sitting there with no possibility to be boarded by foot. The have no outfitting shop where I can buy any of the new stuff to use on foot.

So, what am I supposed to do now? Travel all the way to Sag.A, the Colonia region or the bubble to find a station and get myself the proper equipment to analyse all the stuff I will encounter on the way and than head back???

I wish Frontier would have thought about this and presented a better way. :(

I was out there in that area as well. When the release date was announced I headed towards Explorers Anchorage in the hope that I will be able to buy at least the Explorers suit there. Arrived at the station 2 days before release and with release I was able to purchase what is needed for explorations. So ja, although far.....Explorers Anchorage is your nearest choice....if you are planning on getting the stuff and then heading back out there, consider using Neutrons, will safe you some time....

There was only one patch so far that didn't include a giant invisible middle finger to explorers. So nothing new here thematically, but the degree of wreckage of the superior Horizons planet tech does elevate the level of bird flippage to hitherto unseen heights. Which if we're being philosophical about it is kind of a new meta-space form of exploration.

I headed back to the bubble before the Alpha in anticipation.

Yeah, maybe they should have made more of a thing about it to give people a chance to get back in time.

You can, technically, buckyball back in a day, then do a detailed scan on the way back to your starting point.

Sorry, I can't offer much more help unless you want to skip the exobiology for now. - You can still land and go for a walk in your flightsuit.
Yeah, You are right! I should have made it back to civilized space on time, too.
And yes, I am already wandering around beneath a blueish sky and looking at a moon that looks nearly like Luna. :)

Talking about inmersion, think about new technlogy developed and on sale only on stations in the bubble, I'm still 3,000ly away from bubble, so it's normal, you can't get all new technology, that would break the inmersion for many of us.
I began to travel back to the bubble many hours before odyssey launch.

Good to know that the explorers suit is available at Explorers Anchorage, thank You!
This will be my new destination.

In the same boat being no where near a star port, and alas Mega Ships cannot stock suits

However you can still local and composition scan them for the codex, so not all a loss.

It is a curse and a boon as I havent wanted to rush back as there is too much now to see

Yes as an explorer I have to say I regret paying for Odyssey tbh. Had to turn around from deep in the black to fly back to Colonia to get that damn exploration suit. Bought the suit went back out a ways and tried it out on a few biologicals. What a let down this system is. First you have to drive all over hell and back in your SRV to find enough genetic diversity to complete the sample. Once you turn sell it you find you did all the for a ty 15k credits. Typical for FDEV though, all that effort for the twitchy shooter crowd and explorers get gimmicks. This is just the nature of gaming these days. All hype and no substance.
