Odyssey Bartenders - Suggestions for Improvement

Hello Frontier

Some feedback on Bartenders and my suggestions for improvements.

There's a number of issues I'd like to talk about but today I want to talk about Bartenders.

Whats wrong with Bartenders?

- Well, for a start, it's weird. Every bartender in the galaxy all quietly trading goods under the counter? Come off it. Bartenders tell you rumours and tip offs. "I heard a ship crashed on xxx planet the other day, rumour has it they were carrying xxx ... " That is what the bartenders are supposed to do. And serve drinks, but it seems no one at Frontier has been to a bar before!

- They all trade precisely the same goods - and not the ones you want. What is the point in having a BGS, different economies and system states if you aren't going to tie in trade elements into this system? Material traders are based on economy type, why not 'bartenders'?

- They don't move. They stand perfectly still, not serving, not loading a dishwasher, not talking to customers. I worked in a bar once, if I'd stood perfectly still all day I don't think the boss would have found me a very convincing bartender either.

So what can you do to improve?

- These traders should be sketchy people sitting in a dark corner somewhere. Bartenders offer tip offs, rumours, Lavian Brandy and more meaningful interactions.

- The traders should trade in all - or at least almost all goods. What goods they trade should depend on the economy type or other factors. Data should be amongst these. (Opinion polls?)

- Bartenders should do things.

- Bartenders at tourist economy settlements can also be intractable, and perhaps unique.

It feels like Bartenders have only been made half useful in their trading to slow people down, so people don't upgrade too quickly. Please, if this is the case, find another way. I've been searching data ports for Opinion polls for 5 days, in habitat areas of tourist settlements. I haven't yet found a single one.

Thank you

If Bartenders sold you everything for credits, even at absurd prices, once you get enough local rep with the criminal faction I would be happy. Even if you need to get rep in different system types like industrial, agri, tourism, etc.

Yes! Thank you!

The Bartender needs to be the gatekeeper. Even be the person who will points you to more / different people based on reputation. And the player has to buy a drink to start that conversation.

After that I think moving NPC's that offer mission around and even make new areas that are more appropriate. Ex. Offices, work areas (refineries, farms, etc), dark alleys / hallways, shop counters, etc...
