Odyssey - Crash with Nvidia 1080

Last nvidia drivers, other games i play works good at ultra specs (rdr2, doom etc) the game stars fine but on the tutorial, first starts with a low frame rate with 35-40fps, seconds later the game always crash. Verified files on steam and clean reinstall of nvidia drivers (keeps happening)

Anyone with same problem?

Same here. Not sure if the 1080 is really the problem but if I start openor single I see the chip and 2 sec later I have a hard crash
Also updated nvidea drivers , deinstall and reinstall elite. Nothing helped
 
Its clearly a game related problem then, personally I will be patient, I fully trust that frontier will solve all the problems
 
On the low FPS thing: you need to lower supersampling to 0.5X that did the trick for me. Running a 1080TI on a 4K monitor.
However, the game also keeps crashing for me just after finishing the tutorial. I cannot launch it in any game mode.
 
I am having the same issue. I have an Nvidia GTX 980 TI and every since the night of 5/18/2021, the game has been crashing constantly and I am unable to play. Have re-installed multiple times and nothing has worked. I can get all the way into the main screen, play training missions, anything other than Open Play or Solo Play. Once it gets to the loading screen with the orange spinning sidewinder, it will crash after a few seconds. 'Elitedangerous64.exe' has encounter a problem and cannot continue... that's pretty much all I get now. I have not upgraded to Odyssey. I play Horizons via the steam client. Waiting for a response on my support ticket.
 
I managed to get out of my crash loop by logging into elite dangerous base game then it gave me the option of return to orbit. I'm in game now but still get constant disconnects every 5 mins. Hope this helps anyone that's stuck in my kind of crash loop.
 
I have tried loading just the base version of Elite Dangerous and continue to have the same issue. I have seen many people are having this issue, it sucks for all but I'm glad that I'm not alone and now know it's not my PC, because I was about to take some drastic measures. For now, my CMDR is stuck in his Python floating in some asteroid ring in BD-14 249. Godspeed Commander!
 
There is for sure some bad response coming from the server. I took a look at the crash dump file. I am sure yours will look similar. Also, I have opened an official ticket with the Frontier support (in their bug tracker).

Logging into the base version also did not work for me. Game remains crashing.

yes, looks like more a server communication problem and not a graphic problem

"Server Status: Upgrading" as of 15:54 CST. Hope that means we'll see this thing resolved soon.


EDIT: Well, update completed. Updated game in STEAM, but still having the same issue.

I am a new player actually and therefore just started a new game yesterday, didn't really care of my 10 hours progress. Until now, few bugs encountered but no crashing.
 
Try to delete GraphicsSettingOverride.xml - that one file where u might change color of HUD, it's updated in Odessey.
Find & delete "GpuWorkTable.xml" in same folder where EXE is, so it will be forced to re-detect GPU (that should be done on driver update too).
And.. set "preload shaders" option to OFF, then restart game. This trick fixes not loading textures for 1050
 
One of the main Problem looks like not be the graphics. Installed on a NOtebook with a radeon in instead of my nvidea in my main PC. Same. For me it looks like they changed servers, adresses or maybe inworld some adresses. If I look to such log entries :

Sure, for some the graphic may be the problem but I dont believe in it anymore.

I have the bad feeling if I delete my account and start new it will run. Unfortunately from frontier support, i get absolute no reaction.

I am pretty sure they will fix it. And yes, deleting your account will fix the issue because that is what I did and it worked.
