odyssey derelict ships and other things

Been a long time since I last posted i was wondering if odyssey will not only allow us to go out of our ships eva style to repair a hole or hard point as stated in an early dev diary. along with sneaking onboard and stealing ship and cargo.would that eventually lead to salvaging a ship 1st person like a ship breaker profession or being able to rig a derelict to be halled home and repaired and refitted to add to your own personal fleet Along with mineing gas giants from a player made port or device controlled from remote.

No....

Actually, we don't really know what it will bring other than some FPS mechanic, a player hub and a jet pack thing. But, i would feel safe in betting actual money that it will not include mining gas giants from a player made port, EVA repairs to ships, sneaking onboard other ships or salvaging ships in first person. Not yet anyway. I would love to lose that bet though.

Well I hope so 2 but I ment as It could lead to but not at start but that would be a bit much to put out but one can still hope

Indeed one can.

I think sneaking onboard other people's ships will probably never be done. Imagine the forum salt if I could sneak up behind other commanders, gank them with a sharpened stick and then steal their ship! It would be quite good fun doing it, but I don't think it would be appreciated by some.

Ships interiors have not been confirmed nor even mentioned so far.
As far as we know at the moment I can only assume that we are going to get the very same transtion to the SRV for legs too.
So select "leave the ship" from some UI, fade to black, and there you are in front of the exit door outside of your ship.
I suggest to keep your expectation bar very low.
I doubt Odyssey will be as massive as we were lead to believe.

I get that but it would add to the pirate profession and that would just be one more thing to worry about but it's in the name elite dangerous it sadly hasn't felt dangerous in open one bit except for when blockades use to happen alot .

Tru but they were talking about interiors early on even had a sim of a derelict anaconda with eva ports lit up and cargo spilling out.

I would not use kick-starter campaign videos as a reference. David Braben talked about a lot of things and contraddicted himself few times already.
Well that's tru but it still stands if the framework was put in might aswell speculate it's all we can do till we hear otherwise. I do hope it allso opens up repelling ship bording by goids or that killer ai guardian bots I just hope for something.

Well, there was this official concept art of the Mamba thingydibob (engine room?) in a FDev Stream earlier this year. But other than that, yup, nothing confirmed nor denied nor mentioned when it comes to ship interiors. At least nothing solid :(

I wish for all the exciting things mentioned in this thread, EVA's, ship boardings, walking around ship's.

Reality is im expecting 1 weapon and SRV style pop out ship to walk around surface with no interior gameplay.

Throw in a side order of another delay.

Non ship Interior gameplay for sure, these hubs sound like a few specific city like locations that cmdrs can visit, also various surface interiors to explore for missions etc. Perhaps finally a use for those small surface installations, the Anaconda landing at the base seems to suggest we can raid those installations.

I highly doubt there will be anything related to walking around ships (apart from standard VR stuff that we already have)

During Horizons development there were also a lot of concept arts for multiple SRV's, so I would not rely on that art unfortunately.

Sure, it will probably happens some day and maybe even for Odyssey, but I would not count on it. In these years I've learned that hopefully FDEV can only releases what they show, often even less and with delays. Nothing more for sure.
So unless they clearly confirm ships interiors AND associated gameplay don't hype yourself for that because you'll be deeply disappointed. I learned the lesson already.

I really doubt there will be a fade to black getting out of seat the only reason Is that's what it is now is due to not having the dlc to show fp assets and camera I hope the anaconda will be raidable

I get it dont burn out on hype but it's only thing that is keeping me in a positive state due to the rapid doom n gloom that has been on the forums as of late

If we get more than a few placeholder items that will slowly be dropped when the next big thing after "feet" is released I will be impressed.

And if they can implement it without breaking the actual ship flying part of the game, i will be even more impressed.

I really do not know how i am managing to contain my excitement.

Perhaps you can tell, I may be a little jaded by the present developement and its poor implementation. Still enjoying the base game... But man it does get fustrating at times seeing all the "big releases" of the last five years abandoned, with no developement applied to them. What was the point of bringing them out?

Also the shockingly poor communication from the community managers really is like the icing on a bug cake.

I think that what may be the worst part of all of this, is it comes across that they do not seem to know what the games future is, let alone its past.

Still, lets see what next year brings. They may even of got this year working by then.

I'm not really anticipating much beyond what we say in the announcement trailer and trying not to read too much in to that.

So some surface running around on slightly atmospheric worlds at some new styles of installation with a bit of shooting* going on and some sort of ability to meet other players and possibly NPCs in those locations.

There are a lot of things I'd like to see with legs and a lot of things I'd like to see done alongside that aren't legs specific but wanting isn't getting and I'm very much leaning towards expecting very little.

* To be fair we didn't see any actual shooting, though it has been talked about.. Perhaps the guns are just for show.

Play the game, if you like it as it is you will not burn when Odyssey is released.
If you're tired or ed off with it, Odyssey will probably not help that much.
Forum is independent
