Odyssey Engineering Materials Cap

I've seen a couple threads where people mentioned this as problem, but the thread wasn't focused on the topic in the header. I've currently hit the asset cap of 1000 and begrudgingly had to throw away items to board my ship. I thought "well that's okay I'll go to the bartender and trade away items that I have a high count of for some of the rarer needed materials".

To my dismay, we cannot do this either.

Because when starting the trade I'm at the cap of 1000, we cannot trade items, even though at the end of the trade I would be under the cap. Resentfully, I sold one of the engineering materials to bring me down to 999, thinking okay I can trick the system so I can initiate the trade, and I can receive only 1 item before that same error occurs again. So, very very slowly I can trade these items away to bring my total back down to resume performing mission.

Obviously I'm a little salty writing this as I'm having to give away hours of gameplay, as none of my individual categories were over 100, and the grind requirements are so high that I still can't actually engineer anything due to missing materials.

My suggestion:

Please give each category of material its own capacity cap that we have in the base game of Elite Dangerous. There's a lot of hate on Odyssey, but I'm enjoying the gameplay loops very much. The capacity cap on materials really makes me feel stuck because I can't engineer anything due to the high gather requirements (Honestly, I feel the requirements are fine and require a lot of mixed gameplay, I'm probably a minority on this), but then you put a unrealistic cap on what I can gather. I've got a fleet carrier with 20x the storage capacity, let me put it there at least.
