Odyssey Feedback and suggestions

So far for me Odyssey is having both good and bad moments in equal measure.

Starting off on a positive note, was undertaking a mission to kill criminals at a settlement, mission completed, parked up my SRV and went to explore the settlement to see what goodies I could find, a few minutes later get a message that my SRV has been destroyed. Enemy reinforcements had arrived and seen my parked SRV and fragged it, what a fantastic feature, now I had to evade or engage these new enemy troops in my scavenger suit with no backup ammo, meds, etc and my ship almost two klicks away, loved it. So keep this kind of thing happening.

The random things you now encounter on the surface of planets out in the black, artificial power sources, distress beacons and wreckage, this is great, make exploring even better for me personally. Keep these things going, these for me are welcomed additions to the game. The one things about wreckages, you've got loads of ships to choose from but so far the only wreckages that seem to be displayed are F-63's, Eagles and Sidewinders, live a little guys, use other ship types!

Now for some negative feedback. The new UI, I can't put this eloquently enough so I'll simply say, the new UI sucks balls! Big, hairy sweaty ones to be exact. It's a bloody disaster what you've done to it, was someone tripping when they thought that this was an improvement? It's just awful, please revert it back to the Horizons UI state, that's workable and manageable unlike this version.

The improvements to the FSS, terrible, the removal of being able to select geological signals, you're taking huge leaps backwards by doing this. Right now the way a planet looks after its been probed I can't even begin to figure out where the hell geological things are there's no real way to find things, so for me, revert back so you can select a geological finding, why punish your players?

The colours of the planets in the DS, Water Worlds are now red? Why? Not sure what an Earth Like World looks like as currently out exploring and yet to find one, but can only guess it'll be pink or brown or maybe even grey! The system map isn't much better as water worlds look like black marbles, zero features I also think that atmospheric worlds should have a different halo around them, right now everything seems to have the blue halo around them, land-able planets with no atmosphere and land-able planets with an atmosphere should be disguisable between the two.

Hand held weapon suggestion, a kinetic sniper rifle, large calibre that can be modified to have a decent scope and a suppressor. If you want your players to undertake these stealth missions or have the option of doing the mission in stealth then something like this would help. If the settlement guards aren't expecting trouble then their shields are down, using a kinetic sniper rifle, one shot one kill, no one notices unless they see someone getting killed or find a body on their patrol.

Missed opportunities. Ship interiors, goes without saying, but there's more that should have been explorable on foot. When Odyssey launched, I headed over to Dav's Hope, looking to explore the inside of the settlement and was totally disappointed to see not only was it not accessible but that it looks like it never will be either, no power sockets to overload and open a door or access panels to cut away to allow doors to be opened that way. What the hell guys? Why put these things there only for them not to be used as they should be, seriously. On a similar note, the artificial power sources that you can discover on planets, there's a building that is just crying out for the door to be opened and there could be a treasure trove of things that you could find to help you with the constant grind for materials, but no it's just a another door that does nothing! I'm not even going to mention generation ships, what would be the point.

Ground combat missions, these are ok but could be a lot better. Instead of just capture the flag style, why not have it where you're either bunkered in and you have to fight off the enemy forces from strategic points, the enemy takes that point you have to fall back and defend the next point until finally the control bunker/point is the left and then once that's captured, battle is won/lost. Or you could be the attacking force doing the capturing and moving on to the next capture point. It's a bit more variety. Also, how about being able to shoot down incoming reinforcement ships using captured installation ground weapons? Have NPC SRV's added to the mix, another danger to be negotiated.

Power consumption for the battle suits is absolutely garbage, you engage your shield and then five minutes later you need to recharge. You spend half the time looking for charging posts or power cells. Can you imagine, your troop leader, "Right guys, you need to win this one in five minutes otherwise your suits will be out of power, good luck!" Or is combat sponsored by the manufactures of the power cells you can buy? Seriously though the power usage on all suits is terrible, your gadgets don't come with their own power supply? Everything is powered by the suit you're wearing?

Missions being offered, too many illegal ones, this needs to be balanced out better, have a better choice of legal and illegal to suit individuals play styles. Most of the mission providers offer dodgy as hell missions, if that's the route you're going down, at least make the providers look like scum bags so you know what you're getting into.

The new animation for jump sequences and combat, fantastic and really good, the vibration that goes through your ship when you destroy another ship, now that's good and adds to the environment you're in.

The atmospheric worlds that I have landed on have been breath taking with the views that you can get, really enjoying these.

That's my feedback so far, good luck with getting Odyssey to the level which it should be, I hope you manage to do it sooner rather than later. One last thing, learn to engage with your community and the feedback given, as things go, you're not that good at doing so. All the lack of information and accountability isn't good for the community, your customers and the longevity of good interactions when things don't go as planned.
