Newcomer / Intro Odyssey: How to find limpet controller?

I know most of you are thinking "what a dumb question" but my husband and I are new to Odyssey and are stuck on this item. Here's my question:

We both started Odyssey, got our pilot's license, husband bought the Adder so both of us can enjoy the game together. I sit in the passenger seat and admire the galaxy. Our goal is to mine things and sell them, etc. but we are stuck trying to find where to buy the limpet controller. Has anybody been in this same situation and found out how to buy them? One thing we have noticed is he can't buy anything if we're in the ship so we have disembarked and gone to the concourse of the port we are at (can't remember the name of the one we are at now, been flying around trying to get this simple thing accomplished so we can be on our merry way), and gone to the terminals and still can't figure this out! HELP!

I thank everyone in advance for any help in this manner as stupid and obvious it is to everyone but us! And another quick question: I have read online that there are a few different ones you can buy. Which one(s) would be good for mining, etc.?

You can buy things when you're on your ship but you can't have anyone in the ship with you. When I have someone in my ship they have to disembark first and go up the elevator and wait til you are done.

Back to where you can buy it, you can go to a website https://eddb.io/station or Inara.cz
Below is eddb. Just go to the link above, then just start to type the word "collector" , in the top right corner under "Station sells module", and you will different sizes. It depends on what size module you have made room for on your ship. Then just put in the name of the system you are in in the bottom left corner and it will let you know where you can buy the module at.

You buy ship modules like the limpet controller using the Outfitting option from the station menu, limpet controllers appear in the Optional section.

Note not all stations have outfitting and only a handful of stations have all modules so it is quite possible that even if you can buy and install things in your ship where you are that you might not get what you want there.

The ones you use for mining are the Prospector which when fired into an asteroid tells you what it is made of and boosts how much you can get from it and the Collector these go and fetch stuff back to your ship saving you from having to scoop stuff they work in two ways if you target something and launch a collector it will shoot off fast and bring it back and explode if you launch one without anything targeted it will search for and bring back all suitable items in range until it dies.

As has been said this wasn’t a dumb question as it was asked.

Someone wise said that there are no stupid questions, only stupid answers!

This is a game where there is a lot to learn, and some of it not very logical. It'd be hard to quickly figure it all out your own, I still learn stuff after playing it for thousands of hours.

On the subject of answers, the fine manual can be a little hard to find but however informative it is it is also severely out of date and the game has changed much since then.

Top tip always check the dates for guides in the forums and the wider web the older they are the more likely to confuse due to changes in the game since then.
