Odyssey in linux

Do I understand correctly? If I run the Odyssey on Linux, I get twice the fps ?

I’m currently using Linux via steam/proton and had slightly worse fps than windows using native resolution and slightly better with FSR ultra quality enabled. Update 12 also seems to crash less in Linux than windows, in my limited testing.

The main difference in that comparison is likely due to DXVK, rather than the OS itself. Windows, in general, has an inferior scheduler and will be more bloated than a clean Fedora install, but neither is an issue to the extent that it can explain the discrepancy. The difference in Windows and Linux driver quality for RDNA2 isn't that enormous either.

The most likely explanation for the radical performance differential, especially at lower resolutions is that DX11 games generally have poorly threaded renderers and AMD's DX11 drivers haven't used any fancy tricks to mitigate this. Simply using DXVK can often alleviate CPU bottlenecks because it allows command queues to be spread across more threads.

The lack of a DXVK Windows test in that article is a glaring omission and Far Cry 5 is not Odyssey.
 
Not understood ? Isn't DXVK linux only?
DXVK pretty much always supported Windows: indeed, it is supplied as a Windows DLL even on Linux, as it is intended to run under Wine. DXVK is just an implementation of Direct3D atop Vulkan, so theoretically it would work wherever Vulkan is supported.
 
Huh. I would have expected Linux to run slightly better, as that tends to be my experience. That said, my experience is a bit dated - I'm running Windows on my gaming Laptop and Linux on an older "definitely not gaming" laptop.

The technology is the same as NVIDIA's FSR, which is included directly in the drivers.
Yes, but that doesn’t explain why I should get better FPS using FSR ultra quality under Linux compared to windows (windows was better than Linux with native 1440p and no upscaling)
