Yeah, another great half azz 'feature' from FDev... that I found out today.
I mean come on , This is where a separate DLC, a scorpion you can buy with ARX would have been a very good decision here to cover both middle grounds, so both players from Horizons 3.8 and Odyssey players could enjoy it without the need to give 'space legs' to Horizons. Instead you get to outfit the Scorpion in 3.8, but when you want to deploy it, the option is greyed out. Utter garbage. Instead of removing the button for the option to disembark the Scorpion in Horizons 3.8, but Nooooo, that was apparently too hard to do.
Of course you think of two reasons at first not knowing this is a "feature"
- 1 it's a bug.
- 2 you have not outfitted it, and check again - but yes it IS outfitted, you can look at it but you cannot use it.
What makes the grind even worse is that when you land near an outpost to do a scan mission, both game versions do not save your position - you are dropped out in space again and the mission is not visible in Odyssey. This means it is not possible to switch from Horizons to Odyssey just to play the ground scan mission with the installed Scorpion, but you have to fly around again to find a scarab selling point to reequip it, because missions are not transferred in real time on both platforms.
This is a very poor implementation of 'best of both worlds' - if you even dare to call it that.
I have the impression that to be an FDev developer, your resume needs to list that you are still frustrated that you were bullied at school or something like that.
Another great feature is the missing 'accept', 'ok' or 'confirm' button when you load cargo from the depot to your ship when doing cargo transport missions. When you add all cargo with the 'plus' sign, and you don't click the damn thing, NOTHING gets moved to your ship. Something you only see when you are at destination of course.
Then you might ask, why don't you play Odyssey?
The answer is simple: I prefer the visuals of Horizons 3.8 that I cannot seem to replicate in Odyssey because FDev also decided there to cut down on the visuals in order to boost FPS, without leaving us players the option to tweak our own visual experience.
In short: I enjoy Horizons, but dislike Odyssey - and looking at the Steam reviews showing Mostly Negative, I am far from the only one.
