Odyssey Planetary Missions; actually very good stuff!

I only recently started to delve into the world of Odyssey Planetary On Foot Missions. And guess what, I really like it!

There seems to be a nice variety. The mission-logs have believable and sometimes even touching stories. The contractors come from a wide range of backgrounds. Mission Updates are making sense. Everything goes fluently, performance is fine. NPCs at outposts act mostly naturally, like scanning for ID and stuff. I am taken by surprise. Odyssey has become a really good addition to the game in my eyes.

So, my question: Do you think in the future we will get some "special" story missions in the game? Becouse the system seems to be totally capable to handle some more complex story quests and chained missions.

Are there already special missions in the game that stand out from the rest?

Kudos to the developer team - keep up the good work!

Eventually the payout is going to need to be more than what materials you can steal once you're fully kitted. I'd like to see credits being dumped into your account when you hack into a data port sometimes, but I also like the on foot missions and basically just free roaming and raiding bases on a whim.

Not wrong about the payout... Compared to space missions it would be something along the lines of "there's an additional 0 missing".
I wished there was more to the extra data or things to do with the other lootables: personal computers, insight data bank, personal documents and so on. There is always a little icon next to the data downloadables that left me thinking something wasn't fully finished; some have the superpower icon, others are with the unlock icon (most of those are related to engineer unlock items but not all of them iirc), file icon, industry icons...

There would be so many extra side missions that could have a chance to spawn that could be credible or let alone "roaming" personal interest triggers etc. Could be blackmailing, some heists linked to some megaships and so on... it would help mesh some activities with more ship-space stuff, revamp/create new signals related to what you find and on and on... I hope they'll eventually expand into that stuff.

I don't tend to do ground missions as one needs to return to the same location within the same system all the time to complete the mission. I personally would much prefer it if one could, for example, collect a package and deliver it to a different system.
Ground missions appear to be just back and forth within the same system. I find that boring personally.
The on foot aspect of the game is great, but I would like Frontier to open it up more, as in traveling to different systems to complete on foot missions.
Unless I'm missing something. 🤔

There do are item retrieval missions that can send you to a planet in another system for Odyssey. Of course, you still have to return to the origin point as usual.

I usually take 3, 4 or even more missions at a time, go complete them all and then go back only once to the source to turn them in.

One time I did 8 missions in one go...with a few side trips along the way...

I asked to fix that 4-5 times already.
When I do ship's missions I just fly "forward" usually. Picking some cargo which could be sold on mission delivery etc. Sort of vagabond (in fact, I just need to dock everywhere to open markets for in game tools ;)). And yes, have to return with Ody missions, which is no.

I took close to that for repower missions. It was quite lucrative since I raided everything and only a few had scavs drop in (or were already there).

Remember that foot gear will cost 10 millions.
Ship gear (as whole ship) can require hundreds millions.
I see some logic in foot mission payouts.
(and 0 logic in ground CZ payouts)

Ground CZs are great. You take a checkpoint you get 3000 CR and lose 10 reinforcements to kill. If you kill 10 reinforcements you can get potentially 600K CR. So, the better you do, the less CR you get. 😄
It depends on what you want the end result to be. If you are after credits, go for the kills. If doing BGS combat, I aim for speed to prioritise capturing the CPs to reduce the enemy as fast as possible. That way, you do not have to chase around the settlement trying to kill them.

I never capture checkpoints. But if I'm doing well, the NPCs are free to capture them; reducing my payout. I can't ask them to not do that.

Never forget, there is no "right" way to fight a ground CZ, just whatever way a player is happy with. If you are aiming for a particular outcome, say credits, prioritise getting hits and letting npcs finish off the enemy. Getting rank, hit those highs.

I personally love the on-foot game.

However, it does have to be tempered with the fact it's pretty demanding on hardware. Better than it was though.
