I am hoping someone can help me with a minor issue I am having. I have been using a Vive in ED since May 2016. This week I purchased an Odyssey to compare the resolution bump (the Pro just seemed a bit excessive on the price). Here is my reoccurring problem. Most of the time when I play ED using the Odyssey, my perspective is "rooted" to my captain chair...i.e. when I lean forward or back, my perspective stays connected to the chair itself (it's exactly like playing Star Trek Bridge Crew). I can't look behind the chair, if I stand in real life, the game perspective remains sitting in the same spot. With the vive (and once in a while in the Odyssey), I can stand up, lean over and inspect things.
I can not figure out what is going on. I usually start ED and voice attack after SteamVR is already running. Does anyone have an idea as to what I'm doing wrong here? I thought that maybe I needed to use the Odyssey controllers to launch from the Steam page (I use a Xbox One controller instead of HOTAS), thinking that with just the xbox, it was defaulting to a seated position. But, that didn't seem to change anything. I have increased the play area, but that didn't change my situation. Any ideas? I like the bump in resolution, but the game loses it's immersive quality due to this strange hitch.
