Odyssey Question

I've taken i short break from the game and not quite up to date with all the Odyssey news, Do we know if there will be a whole new list of materials added to Odyssey solely for engineering guns, suits and whatever or will they be stick to using the existing materials?

Just wondering if its worth gathering materials before Odyssey hits.

The way the mats work now there is no downside to filling up completely if you want to, they each have their own bin.

As to what extras Odyssey will bring we don't know yet, your guess is as good as anyone elses :)

I'd say it's safe to assume that there will be at least some new materials for Odyssey stuff, worst (or best) case scenario is every suit & weapon mod requiring new materials with no overlap with current materials.

Really hoping that they leave current ship style engineering out of suits/hand weapons.
Who am I kidding, within the first couple weeks Max level engineering/gear will be required just to be competitive. So a bunch of people will be meta grinding and complaining about it, while the people that don't meta grind will complain they are not competitive because they don't meta grind.

Mission rewards or mission unlocks and purchase with credits is really the ideal way to go about it. Needing 26 of widget X, 17 of thingamajig Y, and 21 of doohickey Z, that are gotten by relogging, and grinding, then relogging, and grinding some more, is really not the best way to go about things.

Then again, Fdev may as well do what's easiest for them, people are going to complain regardless.

They are adding engineers and have mentioned materials also...

Grind is up to the player, surely?
Grind is a balance between game mechanics and player needs, buit when the mechanics are skewed towards more work for less return then thats a grind in game terms is it not?

The original engineer mats requirements are a good example of that, so broken they had to up the rewards by 300% to make them barely acceptable

All down to interpretation, I'd suggest. Some folk find having to fly a spaceship in a spaceship game to be grind...
...but it is a very fashionable term to bandy around and gain sympathy from others 🤷‍♂️
