I have to agree. I hate the fact that every single on foot mission requires you to do combat in one form or another. Even threat zero missions end up with a squad of gung-ho marines who shoot at first sight. Pair that with the fact I can unload a full clip into one at point blank range and barely scratch their shield, yet they can run up to me and two shot me with a plasma shotgun, is frankly stupid. And no, I don't take any mission higher than a threat 3, and that's mostly because it's so hard to find any that are zero, one, or two. Threat levels this low, should either have no NPC's attacking you, or only one or two, not a squad of five. Plus they seem to be able to see you clearly in pitch black night is also something that needs fixing.
I'm a disabled player, and I'm 70% blind, due to a stroke a few years ago. I can't do FPS games anymore because I can't see properly to react in time. All I want is to be able to collect some suit mats to upgrade my exploration suit, so when I go out exploring, I'm better equipped. It's stupid that I need to do FPS combat in order to get better exploration equipment. All the suit engineers have combat related requirements too. It's like FDev thinks that on-foot is literally for FPS combat ONLY, and nothing else.
I am so glad I didn't have to pay for Odyssey, being a Kickstarter backer. I'm disappointed with it as it is now, and I know they will tweak things and possibly make things better, but as it stands at the moment, the Odyssey additions are practically un-useable for me. Not everyone is a master at FPS combat, and that clearly has not been taken into consideration.
