Odyssey / Ship Based VR / Atmospheric Planets ?????

Hello:

I am assuming that if I have Odyssey I will be able to access and explore atmospheric planets in Elite Dangerous Horizons. That said, since I use VR for ED, doe that mean I can operate my ships and SRV's on these planets AND have it in VR? I don't care about FPS and that stuff.

If anyone has some clarity that will help me!

(correct me anyone if there's been more since)
The last VR news we had for Odyssey was that we will be able to fly and drive seated in VR as we do today, but if we want to go on foot, then there will be a projected flat screen for that inside our VR world (a bit like the open title logo) and control I think defaults to WASD and mouse, but is mappable.

Cheers and thank you for the information o7 I am under the impression that this is what is the case.

I'm wondering if this will be the case now with the latest news about Odessey. I'm bringing this back up wondering if we'll have to wait for it until later this year. It would really suck if that's the case.

Lolo...I preordered Odessey almost six months ago, and if they push back atmospheric planets for Horizons users until the Fall that will be nearly a year on preorder. Stay classy, FDev...stay classy.

As far as I'm aware at the PC launch you can play in Horizons as it is now, BUT you will NOT have access to the new planetary tech or new lighting. In effect Horizons will not change.
In Odyssey you get the new planetary tech and lighting and VR in ships and SRVs, BUT NO VR in the on foot sections.
I also think that people in Horizons will not be able to be in the same instance as people in Odyssey.

At the console launch of Odyssey later this year the above will change. Horizons will get the new planetary tech and new lighting, and Horizons players will be able to instance with Odyssey players, although Horizons players will not have access to atmospheric planets.

As for VR on foot, well we are still waiting on any info about that.

Can you use the camera in VR so that you follow your character from 3rd person perspective?

Here is someone doing that:

How are the atmospheric planets in VR? Impatient! It's the feature that made me order Odyssey. And do you need to rebind all of the controller mappings?
