Odyssey - Swapping our of VR when on foot

Hi all,

Looking for a little help. Not sure if I am doing something wrong or its by design, but how do I swap from VR to monitor when I get out of my space ship? Scenario below.

When I am on foot I want to take off my VR Headset and use the monitor to continue playing the game while on foot. The problem is that when playing in VR the monitor mirrors the VR headset and I can not find a way to stop this and just have the monitor setup as normal i.e. as if I was not in VR, is there a way around this?

In the official article it states the below, however how do you make this work when VR is being mirroed?

Can I play Elite Dangerous: Odyssey in VR?

In Odyssey, you will be able to fly down to planets, fly through atmospheres, and drive along planet surfaces in your SRV; all while remaining in VR.

When disembarking your ship or SRV, you will be presented with a projected flat game screen in your VR headset in order to continue on foot. You will of course be able to remove your headset if you so choose, but this will not be a requirement.

There will be no requirement to boot between Horizons and Odyssey in order to continue your journey.

EDO was not designed for VR users, that's clear (to me at least).

I've switched to monitor only because of how bad the VR experience is. At first it was weird because I've only ever known ED in VR but I have the advantage of having a 49" ultrawide screen so it wasn't much of a jolt.

Its sad because I love ED in VR.

I've found the easiest way to switch from VR to flat is to go into Graphics options and turn 3D mode to off. You may also want to change the display resolution to match your monitor. Also, audio will still be tied to your VR headset so you'll probably want to switch to another source in Windows. Reverse the process to switch back to VR.

Thanks I will give that a try

I have a VR cockpit not facing the monitor.
Solution for me = uninstall the game.
Edit: I lied... I've not installed it after Fleet Carriers.

We need a binding for toggling between our preferred VR graphics settings and our preferred flatscreen settings.

Getting out of the ship/SRV? Push button/key, take off headset, done.

Getting back in? Push button/key, put on headset, done.

A fix for SteamVR shutting down my game if it detects no activity in my Reverb for ten minutes would also be welcome!

Edit: just read a Reddit post saying much the same thing - though I'm not sure how it would be done automatically. A single button/key press would be fine for me.
