Odyssey System Specs on Epic Game Store

I was looking a Odyssey on the Epic Game store and noticed a huge difference in the both the Minimum and Recommended system specs for Odyssey compared to Steam. I'll post the Recommended specs from both sites. So if you are looking at Odyssey on EGS be warned.

Steam:
  • RECOMMENDED:
    • OS: Windows 10 64bit
    • Processor: Intel i5-8600 / AMD Ryzen 5 2600
    • Memory: 12 GB RAM
    • Graphics: NVIDIA Geforce GTX 1060 (6 GB VRAM) / AMD RX 580 (8 GB VRAM)
    • DirectX: Version 11
    • Storage: 75 GB available space

  • RECOMMENDED:
    • OS: Windows 7/8/10 64-bit
    • Processor: Intel Core i7-3770K Quad Core CPU or better / AMD FX 4350 Quad Core CPU or better
    • Memory: 8 GB RAM
    • Graphics: Nvidia GTX 770 / AMD Radeon R9 280X
    • DirectX: Version 11
    • Storage: 25 GB available space

The Epic page you've linked shows the specs for Horizons.

It clearly says Odyssey:
"Take control of your own starship in a cutthroat galaxy. Elite Dangerous is the definitive massively multiplayer space epic. Includes Elite Dangerous: Odyssey, and the Elite Dangerous: Odyssey OST."

Please don't mislead the viewers here. This is important.

It's Epic store showing it's true color. They gave it away for free last year, so now trying to make some money, which cheap tactics like that. There reviews are also for ED.

Probably best go with Steam, unlike Epic or Frontier store page, you can leave a review on Steam, and can refund.

Check in the name of the URL: elite dangerous commander premium edition. It's an old Horizons or pre-Horizons SKU. And the requirements are copy/paste from Horizon.

As much as Epic is the devil in disguise, I don't think they handle minimum requirement. It's Fdev doing.

Perhaps Epic doesn't have a way to have DLC with higher requirement than base game, since it's rather odd thing in the industry.


What is funny, however, is how the CPU is increased, but everything else is decreased. 🤷‍♂️
