Odyssey the size of stand-alone game?

Hopefully a really wide variety of salvage locations, lifeforms, unusual points of interest, with a variety of reasons to go to them (in ships, SRVs and on foot), and a range of unpredictable things that can happen at these sites.

That would really open up the scope of the update, and make the new features feel less "walled garden" and limited to settlements and stations.

There's nothing to say that it couldn't be the size of a cat, but packaged in a way that you wouldn't believe that it actually was a whole cat.

If you take out powerplay + multicrew, what they've announced so far sounds like a 1 to 1 approximation of what we got for horizon but for space legs.

Does anyone honestly thing there's more coming? There's no basis to expect fantasy until they give us something to calibrate it. Until then its horizons but fps.

With fat angry cats too.

I'm going to climb over that curmudgeon wall of yours someday and it's going to be glorious.

But do you seriously think odyseey is going to be more than horizons just in one go?

Im actually talking about the game, all you lot do is slap each other on the bottom and talk about cats.

Do you even play elite? Frontier fondling isn't a video game.

Honestly I haven't given a seconds thought to the size and scope of Odyssey. Much more important things to consider like what space suit I'll wear when riding cowboy on Reds Python.

As for playing Elite I played last Mon/Tue or something like that out in Robigo doing crap missions for Fed rank. You?

Well i did, and that's what i came up with to be realistic. Having done it at least 1/2 a dozen times, filling the lack of information that frontier always create with my own positive fantasies only to have the reality turn out different isn't the healthiest thing to do.

Yeah i took a break for.. maybe january, but as soon as they announced that first footfall was going to be claimed in the bubble i perked up and started playing regularly again. My main account... hmm was trying the cg but gave up because i can't go anywhere.. its so annoying to have to return to base to clear the transactions tab so im just staying there until tomorrow. My alt account which was out of the bubble spent the last few days racing back... woke up one day and decided i actually don't hate the anaconda. So i need one for that account of course. Just raced back, stripped down my type 10, outfitted a multipurpose anaconda and made a type 9 just for the canopy. Yesterday i finished up engineering it (just with the mats i have on me) and was testing it.. turns out for pve.. you can live with +10 thermal resistance using biweaves quite happily. That's nice. Also 6d thrusters engineered with a modest clean drive has more performance than an unengineered 7a. Wasn't expecting it to be that op.

In summary:

  • Having first footfall claimed means im not going to have to do the launch day login timeout disconnect game just to get tags. Being absolved of stress is a huge positive.
  • 12 optional slots in an anaconda means you can really have one of everything in it. You can also see something infront of you and its large so its good for pretending.

Well... I saw a leaked specification somewhere on the Internet so it must true ;) but it stated that the planned size was 80 Cubits x 60 Cubits x 100 Cubits.

Now in preparation for this, I have already begun my system upgrade and only need just one more flux capacitor which I just found on Wish.com so I know it's gotta be real.

They have said Odyssey will be similar in scope to a game all in itself.

To me, what they have shown so far, doesn't really add up to that level of content, however we obviously haven't been told everything.

What do you suspect the devs haven't told us yet? What surprises do you think they may actually have in store? Or do you just think that they are building it up to be more than it will be?

Don the tinfoil hats

i suspect there will be a little bit of leg gameplay equivalent to what you consider SRV gameplay to be.

some will hype it to be more, some will want more, some will expect more, some will wonder why it took so long, some will love it, some will hate it.

but i certainty don't expect there to be MOAR and the devs will be singing "Oliver" in their ivory tower.

Customers... customers,
never before has a game wanted more.
Customers... customers,
Won't ask for more when they know what's in store.

There's a dark, thin, winding stairway
Without any bannister
Which we'll throw them down, and feed them on
Cockrouches served in a canister

Customers... customers,
What will they do when they're turned black and blue?
