Odyssey through Oculus Store?

Not played for a while but i'm pretty sure I only have the Oculus Store version now rather than standalone, as I recall wanting to save space and deleting the duplicate copy. I can't see it on store, so how do I get the expansion?

thanks in advance

You should have a download in Oculus that will need to be applied unless you automatically do these. That will update the launcher.
When its complete, go to ED in your library and click the 3 dots and Start as desktop. This will get you to the launcher without firing up ED itself.
From here you can click on the version you want to launch i.e. ED Odyssey and the Play button will turn into an Install button. Click this. (If your Install button is not clickable, try pressing enter once ED Odyssey is selected see https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threads/cant-install-odyssey.575201/page-2#post-9173198).
Wait.... depending on your internet speed this time may vary from "Coffee break" to "Hello new dawn".
When done, you should be able to close launcher, go back to Oculus and just run it.
Then enjoy the experience https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threa...t-panel-in-vr-in-odyssey.575533/#post-9176728

Good luck

This worked for me, until the hotfix came. Oculus Home couldn't seem to update the game, it would get stuck after optimizing the download. If I launched the launcher in "desktop mode" a message would pop up that Oculus had to update the game first. In the process of re-installing now. Hope this isn't a recurring issue!

This is happening for me also. Not wanting to reinstall the game AGAIN. Is there another way?

Same problem, the Hotfix 1 update finished on the Oculus app, and now the ED launcher gives a message saying the game needs an update and then closes. Odyssey worked through the Oculus app until Hotfix 1.

Did anybody have success with a reinstall? Thinking of trying to buy a Steam copy (75% off right now) and abandoning Oculus... but a reinstall would be cheaper. :)

I am maybe 30-40mins away from completing reinstall. Will update.

It worked. But I bought Odyssey through FD store so now when I reinstall FD from Oculus it only installs Horizon. I have to manually install Odyssey (the option is even greyed out). If I have to do that every update this is going to get old fast!

And now i get a message servers are going down for another update in 20 ... Motherf****..

Thanks for letting us know it worked, albeit not well... and for an impending server suspension! I did the same thing, bought Odyssey through Frontier directly. Hopefully this next server suspension addresses this and other concerns. Thanks again!

Yes, my re-install also worked but with same caveats. Oculus only installs Horizons. Had to manually install Odyssey again via launcher. The Odyssey install takes hours and hours. Download speeds are terrible. The Horizon install from Oculus took minutes.

Worried will hit the same issue in the next hotfix.

Actually, if you uninstalled then immediately try to reinstall seems to keep a copy of ED somewhere and instead of redownloading it tries to "prepare for download" by checking against the existing ghost copy. This process on Oculus apparently takes an entire year. I canceled that (after about an hour of waiting without any indication of progress), closed Oculus and when I reopened it just started to download (which downloaded Horizons and took much less time).

Just got the new update finished through the Oculus app (after Hotfix 1). Same problem; the ED launcher says it needs to be updated before it can play, even though it just finished updating.

Sigh.

Yup, Oculus can't seem to update the game if you installed Odyssey through the launcher. Just sits at Installing 0% forever. Only thing that seems to work is uninstalling and reinstalling the whole thing. And now that we've had 2 hotfixes in 2 days, this is just not gonna fly. Plus, if you look at the task manager, there will be an Oculus process running using 5% - 10% of your CPU forever as well, as it tries and fails to install the game. Even after your restart Oculus, you gotta shut the process down manually or reboot.

Gonna uninstall the game until they figure out this crap.

Really wish they'd just released Odyssey in the Oculus Store as well so we didn't have to jump through all these broken hoops.

I ended up buying ED through Steam, even though I have it through Oculus. It is 75% off right now, and I was happy to get away from Oculus anyway. The good news is that, for now, it is working well through Steam with Odyssey. I did do a complete 2nd install, though.
