Odyssey VR now $ is flowing.

VR only emphasises the performance and graphical bugs present in Odyssey. It is only used by a small number of players, and is probably quite hard to plot on a graph linked to profit, so Frontier dropped it. I doubt it will return even if the Arx changes were somehow a staggering success above and beyond the existing revenue streams.

Or, in other words, "Not at launch".

The way I was reading it I'm not sure it's $$$ yet either - 0.5M profit on 89M revenue is a rather slim margin, and for next year they actually expect a lower revenue of 87M so they only anticipated a profit through further cost control. Much better than substantial losses of course, but I don't think FDev will be replacing the water fountain with champagne just yet.

They should just go ape and sell ships for money, like 1000s of deniro per ship or whatever, jus like the other shamless game that does.
IF it means we get a VR upg!

Your best chances for those are the numerous threads about Arx inflation and the disappearances from the store.

Hopefully they won't waste any of that precious money on VR, enjoyed by a few percent of the game population. Spend it on something more useful to the majority of players.

Well that's your opinion.
Clearly we the minority dont feel the same way.
For me it's spend it on VR and not waste it on outdated pancake content. 😋

Hallo FDEV,

Hello FDEV,

for a VR experience, we VR users do not need the tracked controllers. It is sufficient to place the VR view position on the pilot's head. The rest is then controlled with an Xbox controller or even with the Hotas. That would be the easiest option. What would also be very important at first is to set the gray 2D border to black. Or at least provide an option for custom color management. That would be the simplest option.

I would be very grateful for an answer

I dont think FD should go all in on VR.... however an officially built in mode like with the camera set up how you already can do it anyway, albeit with some faff so remove that!.... plus add in the Oddy UI in that view as well to make the game fully playable.....

(and put a big warning that it is an experimental feauture requiring very high end gear)

it would be nice to hope that would not be too much work or take away anything major from the development of the 2D game.
