Of Cutters and Corvettes

o7

Is it me or is there a reason for, after 2000+ hours, I have yet to encounter a Corvette and a Cutter NPC?
The biggest ships I ever see are the Anaconda and Type-10 (and the Beluga Rick6549). Does one have
to reach Elite Combat first? Am I just not in the right neighborhood? Am I in the wrong ship?
Am I drinking the wrong brand of beer?

I don't get it.

Thx,
X.

CZ eh?

You might be onto something. I usually never go to those. Mostly CNB's and REZ sites.
When I did CZ it was just against Thargoids. I'll have to check them out. Thank you.

This has been bugging me ever since G5-ing my Vette. I never had anything worthy
to test her out against. She melted everything that dropped in so far.

Yes its simply ridiculous how much anacondas there are.
One in 20 elite ranked pirate assassination missions might spawn a Corvette for you if taken from a federal system, suspect its the same for imperial systems with cutters
Even system security is 101% just anacondas, pythons and vipers and eagles
Yesterday i was in the combat cg system, qator or something and i was completely baffled when a sys sec corrvette pulled me out of supercruise just to ignore me afterwards
I don't recall the last time i saw a sys sec Corvette

Edit: also elite anacondas have became a rarity wich bums me out because they were my main source of core dynamics and military grade composites, farmceutical isolators and imperial shielding. In the past ive seen these drop from elite corvettes and cutters as well
Havent seen an npc cutter for target in like 2 years now and i only found them in combat zomes

I forget the name but there's a permit-locked system which is a well-known mat' scavving site as a result of Cutters fighting with each other.

It's got an illegal orbital casino (IIRC) and two outlaw factions can be found there and they always end up fighting with each other in Cutters.
All you need to do is land a couple of shots on an attacked ship and then you can scoop the mat's when it goes boom.

+EDIT+

The name "Isinor" just popped into my head.
I think that might be the system I was thinking of.

They are war ships builds in conflict zones...
If you don't go where war ships are you won't meat war ships...

The WAR class build rank locked ships are not sold to just any one... you had to get high rank in Both factions to be offered the ships and your not allowed to retire with them...
Only renegade, criminals or traitors AI can use their rank locked ships out side of conflict zones... so you can run into these AI ships on Bounty hunting missions from mission boards...

Low and medium conflict zones have LOWER chance in spawning the war ship builds of cutter or corvette.. HIGH conflict zone will spawn them...
The captain class side mission in HIGH conflict zone when an Emp or fed faction is in the war will spawn AI with these class of ship...

Pirate lords being pirates of course steal or high jack theres as a command ship so when asked to kill an elite pirate lord the command ship is a high chance it will be a corvette build...

If you are not in a system with a Fed or Empire presence you won't see them.

I'm in Alliance space, never seen one in the wild or in a CZ.

assassination missions have plenty of them. Pick "kill pirate lord" in fed system and target (if elite level mission) is likely a corvette.. and so on

This place sounds like fun. Anyone recall this system Stealthie is describing?
I've been neglecting my Imperial rank anyway and this casino sounds Imp-ish
enough to go cause some double agent trouble in. Thinking about unlocking the
Prismatics too.

I've seen Cutters in some CZ's but they're just as rare as Corvettes, T9's & T10's.
T10 is alliance conflict zone wars only, T9s are very common in medium zones, all are easy kills for the AI and ensure that side loses points in that round of the war as Standard AI can kill them with no issues with out your help... these ships decide who loses points to the other side in a round not win points.. lol

It may be your combat rank too. I get Elite Assassination missions all of the time, and I fight Deadly 'Vettes in them most of the time. I have only seen Cutters in CZs so far, but I tread mostly in Fed space. I wonder if those Elite Known Pirates would fly Cutters in more Imperial space.

I just got Interdicted in Quator system by a Cutter, claiming to be a Federal Security Check

Cutters and Corvettes are the two more exclusive ships available, the general space faring public aren't going to have access to them. I've never seen an NPC Cutter, but I have seen plenty of Corvettes in Combat Zones and as mission targets.

... I have a small theory that cutters and 'vettes would be associated with the power that sponsors them...

Ofc they are.
Go in a High Combat Zone in a war between an Empire or Federation backed factions and you have a chance to encounter them
They dont pop in High CZ where war is between Independents or Alliance factions.
