Of Outposts and Docking

There has been lots of talk about going to the hangar after docking, to free up the pad for another player to dock. Well, I recorded this video to prove it does nothing to help the docking queue. Also, as a side-benefit, you can see the proper orientation to land - the holographic pad number is at the back of the pad, and not all outpost pads have a gantry on them. One cool touch that FD put in here is that the pad number seems to always be presented to you the right way. Notice how it changes as I swing around from back to front. Very cool.

Plus this is my first vid captured with Shadowplay, and I can say I'm quite impressed with the quality and the fact that there is no perceptible hit to my computer's performance. I may just need to start making actual movies again. :D

An extra tip for folks having trouble landing or figuring out the orientation they need, or just plain approach from the wrong way.
When you get down close to the dock, you should see the butt-end of your ship in the center panel once it changes to the dock bulls eye.
If you are looking at the front of your ship, you are facing the wrong way.

Also easily fixed by just lining up as per normal (whilst facing the wrong way).
Then roll the ship 180 degrees, now the deck of the dock is above your canopy.
Then pitch back 180 degrees(or forward if you like).
Now readjust your lining with the docking bulls eye.
Land.

Easier than trying to yaw and thruster into the proper "direction", for me anyway.
