Of Wombats and Men

Dearest @Eltanin Casciani and @Francesca Falcini, thank you so much for helping to facilitate the additions of our new friends the capybaras into Planet Zoo. They have been nothing short of delightful! I must now take it upon myself to ask that you please help us reunite with another scorned friend. This friend, like the capybara, was regrettably left behind when their home continent was visited so long ago, and they have been patiently waiting to reunite with us. And that, of course, is the wombat! Please, help us find our friends!

Oh. yes. Yes! A wombat species is solidly my #1 want at this point. They're the only animal I would consider "must have" for me now. I keep talking about the common wombat, because it's more common, but truthfully from a conservation standpoint either of the Hairy Nosed Wombats would make more sense and I'd be perfectly okay with them.

Most likely we will get 'Wombat' which will live in various biomes, just like we have 'Koala' and not Southern Koala.

And I agree. I would consider wombats as a must.
That's possible. But the Hairy Nose varieties, while looking similar between the two, look quite different than the common one. I'd prefer they pick a particular - though even just saying "hairy nosed wombat" would be fine. I am just hoping we get one, since I would have no expectations that'd we get two species of an animal that aren't in the game as yet, excepting birds and possibly the leopard. But two wombats would be thrilling!

"Koala" is a species, "wombat" is a family. A generic koala is like a generic leopard, whereas a generic wombat is like a generic "cat" which ranges across every continent but Antarctica and has behaviors taken from lions, tigers, lynxes, etc.

It's undoubtedly because I've never seen them in real life, but I've never been able to see the wombat (and Tasmanian devil, for that matter) as anything more than nice potential additions but nothing remotely essential for my purposes. And I think we're all forgetting Oceania's real forgotten cutie here.

Overshadowed not only by the wombat and devil but also their far less adorable cousins... Just look at that teddy bear face, and then look at... this.

Justice for Matschie's.

Those pink claws are adorable! Yeah, I'd love to see these guys in-game.

I want lots more Aussie animals - wombats, emus, devils and wallabies are all essential. Tree kangaroos, lyre birds, black swans, quolls, bilbies, numbats, quokkas, pademelons, echidnas and more would be ideal to have as well though :)
Agree, maybe not on every animal but agree. I think that potentially switching to biome packs is a great idea for the most part, but I would 100% be on board for an animal pack specifically dedicated to Oceania.
