Newcomer / Intro Off to Sagitarrius A

So I decided to go visit the center of the galaxy. In a Dolphin. With a scoop, and 26 ly FSD range. I think it's gonna take me a while to get there. And with my luck, I'll get sucked into the supermassive black hole at the center of our galaxy and end up in some weird hell or another universe. I Figure cause I'm lazy, it's gonna take me 2-3 weeks to get there and back. This should be interesting cause I stripped my Dolphin down to bare bones just to get the 26 ly range. No weapons, only chaff for defense. Party time. I'm sure I'll die along the way but that's cool. This is just for odd and fun.

*Sagittarius <---- how I misspelled that in the header is beyond me. DOH!

1000 jumps.
Yes, it will take a while. Try to avoid White Dwarves. They are not healthy for the tired explorer.

I have one. Not finding any stations though so kinda worried.

You can try to write down the locations of some of the DSSA carriers along the way... just in case. Useful to also sell some data if you dont want to risk everything in a single bang.
Or you could go to Colonia first by following the Colonia Highway - but then you'd still be 11000 ly from SAG A*

Good luck commander. 👍

Not sure how a chaff is going to save you from being sucked through the seven sides of hell to another universe though. 😂

If you are bothered by having a typo in a thread title you started, you could ask a moderator to correct it, just click the "report" link in your own OP and ask nicely in the ensuing box. (We did have the ability to edit our own "thread titles" but it seems this is no longer available.)

Good luck, CMDR.

A hint: if you want to increase your chance of first discoveries (and thereby getting your name on the galaxy map), go off the beaten path. Some hundred ly up, down or sideways can make all the difference.

https://edastro.com/galmap/ - yes, that is an actual heatmap, collected from all the CMDRs who uploaded their data to EDSM/EDDN.

A second hint in advance: if you go on the direct route, you will highly likely encounter a layer of unscoopable brown dwarfs. Again, going up or down a few dozen ly will help you find scoopable stars again.

Further hints (in case you get bored) are available - the record for a (fully engineered, using Neutron boosts) Dolphin currently stands at 2:21:23. That is, two hours, 21 minutes, 23 seconds 😁.

Good luck, have fun! The Dolphin's heat management is so good that you could get away with not having a heat sink launcher. I just did about 130,000 ly round trip in a dolphin without one, and even when I purposely parked between close binary stars and charged my frame shift drive I don't think I ever got it over 100% heat. The trick is to remember when you're back not to mindlessly just charge your FSD near a star and start cooking your other ships 😅

Also, as it is your first trip and mistakes will most definitely happen (they happen to me, still, after all those years), maybe I'd recommend finding a visiting a couple of outposts on your way to and from, possibly stopping at Colonia. Simply to "save your progress".
Unless you WANT it to be a rogue-like adventure. :)

I'm currently in Aucoks GC-J B29-3 about 1500 ly from my start.

Good luck Commander!! o7

A good start to becoming a cosmic pioneer! I can heartily recommend researching the locations of DSSA carriers that may lie along or nearby your route; useful for pit stops, and always deployed in lovely scenic locations. There’s still plenty out there in the black to find and mark as your own, keep flying CMDR, o7!

Don't forget your camera.

If you have a heart, you could take a ton or two of cargo with you. The poor pirates fly all the way out there in their 11LY jump range Adders, then cruise around the beacon for hours never to find a ship with any cargo to rob, so they have to make all the 2,354 jumps back and return empty-handed. You could make their day and drop them a couple of tons.

Say hello to them from me when you get there, especially Slobodan Robovich in his Viper called Pit.
