Newcomer / Intro Off-topic a little - But - Easy-editing video software to make Elite videos??

Hi,

I started recording videos through Shadowplay function in Nvidia's Experience software... and now having quite a few MP4 movie files lying around.

Now - For those of you who actually are making youtube videos... which software do you guys use to edit your videos easily?

Hoping for some help, as I'm considering trying to make some Elite Dangerous videos and uploading them to youtube also.

Thanks for your help...

If you don't mind 720p output, the free version of Lightworks is pretty wonderful. The interface is a little odd, but if you follow the excellent video tutorials, you will have the basics down in a lot less time than it took you to learn Elite. Registered paying users can export 4k etc. of course.. but 720p is pretty watchable, given the low data rate that youtube uses for transcodes. Otherwise, Windows Movie Maker seems to be popular amongst home users, it's designed to be accessible- it's much simpler than Lightworks. Just remember to go easy on the wipes, either way!

Those are both workable free options, and free of malware/adware/spyware, unlike a lot of the other "free" options.

One slight protip- even if shadowplay is capturing at 60fps locally, consider exporting the edit at 25fps or similar. Then when youtube transcodes, the loss of temporal resolution will prevent massive spatial resolution drops in scenes with high deltas (things going "a bit chunky" when there's a lot going on). People are a lot less disturbed about Youtube videos at 25fps than they would be at the game running that way :D

Hope that helps!
