Info from the London stock exchange...


The first season has included the Elite: Dangerous game and the 'Community Goals', 'Wings' and 'Powerplay' expansions, with two further expansions to come this year. The second season of expansions will continue into 2016, further enriching the Elite: Dangerous experience with new activities, new areas to play in and explore and new ways to play.

so with CQC being 1.4 what the hell is 1.5? Have I missed something?

1.5 is ships, not fully announced which/what, on the way, probably due later this month sometime or early next month maybe.

Ships doesn't scream expansions like the others. Also why would the last of season 1 be the weakest?

oh whoops. Looks normal on my phone. Hopefully a mod can sort it out as there are no colour tags I can see in the post.

I believe it adds more than just ships but that ships are the main feature. The same way 1.2 Wings did more than just wings and 1.3 powerplay did limpets and stuff.

I personally think its more of a setup to bring them to the 30 ships and most of the other kickstarter plans. (Note: I use plans not promises here because kickstarter promise is like a political promise ;)). Its probably also to set them up for the Horizons when it arrives like updating planets, code and other things.

Of course, thanks to modern media, people only pay attention to stuff that is hyped, which is why we have several continuing speculation threads about what 1.5 will be, despite the actual nature of it being posted by the developer.

DB, when asked what 'Holiday' meant in the EDGC stream yesterday, said with emphasis "But it (Horizons) will be this year" which I understand based on his past scheduling that it will be released this year, come what may.
