I've always percieved my commander role in elite as a bit like a rogue trader somewhat on the edge of respectability doing a bit of trading (completely legitimate honest officer) some bounty hunting and transporting passengers. etc.
Often when flying from one system to another I'll check to see what commodity I can take with me to trade, or if flying a cargo see if there's someone I can put in my passenger cabin.
i think often people are flying very specialised ships that only do one thing or another but actually mixing it altogether is quite fun (and adds to the variety - reduces burnout etc.)
So my request is for something that would help this playstyle :
Either in its simplest from the ability to filter the boards for missions going to a particular system (and or station), a bit like the mission type filter that already exists. I'm not a programmer but I don't see that being particularly difficult to add.
Or (A bit more advanced demanding)
The ability to offer cargo space/passenger cabins etc for a purpose - in my case I'm flying to system blah and have cargo space and an empty cabin, who wants it, and then have missions generated on that basis.
In the future (hiting wishful thinking stages)
You could have procedurally generated missions (i.e. within the story of the missions themselves) that arose from you offering something that were more complex - i.e. "I hear you're flying to xyz - I'll pay loads of money" "Mission update - I'm sorry I don't have the money to pay you, I lied but I was escaping from abc. They were trying to force me to marry def, I need to get to my random relative who will pay you.... they live at..." go there (appropriate interdictions along the way) "random relatives house is bured down etc. local mafialord offers to tell you where they are if you smuggle his drugs/weapons etc.... The follow on missions are a bit like this but imho there's definitely room for growth [There were a few missions like this (at least to the point of not getting paid
in frontier 2 and you could negotiate a bit 10% iirc with the npcs based on your rep etc. but that sort of thing has gone from ED and I miss it a bit - much prefered it over the take it or leave it we have at the moment]
Back down to earth.... a bit I'd actually settle for being ripped off by a disreputable/desparate character every now and again (sorry can't pay.... bye!) it used to be mildly annoying but at least it made things more human and that again (imho) is something that's missing....
