Fiction Official Authors of Elite Lore Books

I'm starting to read all the official lore books from Elite starting with "The Dark Wheel" and working my way up the dates. I was wondering how one becomes or gets permission to be one of the authors authorized to publish official books that are considered canon lore.

I know some of these authors started out as fans of the franchise/game. Simply asking because I'm dabbling in self-publishing books as well and am really getting into the lore of the game a lot. Thanks and take care.

Best Regards,

Hi Thomas,

The original set of Elite Dangerous books were pledge awards for the ED kickstarter back in 2012. If you pledged enough money, you were allowed to write a book, subject to FDev approval. As a result several books were published in 2013. There was an opportunity to send in license applications at the end of 2015. I am currently writing an officially licensed novel, but I believe it's the only one in the works right now. I'm not aware of a specific mechanism to approach FDev about writing a book today, but if you send an email to enquiriesx@frontier.co.uk asking for details you may get a response that way.

Hope that helps,

Cheers,

Drew.

Thanks for the detailed reply! I'm currently reading "The Dark Wheel" now. I'm reading them in order of year published I believe, or at least in the order recommended in these forums. I have yours all set to go on my Wish List as well and will purchase them as soon as I reach them on my list :D

I too am working my way through all of the fiction. I highly recommend Drew's Oolite Saga, they're really well done space opera, and free.
