Official exploration thread

It would be nice to have a dedicated thread about exploration discoveries, a thread to post screenshots and movies when you explore, nice vistas, odd planets and other wonders you might come across while traveling.
Would also be nice if you like to give system names of places you found that have nice vistas and easter eggs (spolier tag) of cource.

Well, exploration is kind of broken now anyway. It boils down to jump into system, fire scanner, figure out if there are any metal rich planets or earth like ones, scan them and move along. Anything else is just a junk. If there is one star with possibly rocky ice planets, I just move on, since they don't pay.

So the exploration is pretty much mechanized now, instead of just flying around for fun.

I feel a bit safer sticking to known space, the idea of flying around all alone, with my ship falling apart is pretty scary, and what if those Thargoids get you? Your modules are all at 60% or whatever, and THEN they appear, like Pirhanas. *shivers* Nope i'm sticking to where humanity is for now, I may shoot off into the unknown some day, but it's a pretty big decision as coming back won't be easy.

Was more thinking about this thread to be nice screenshots and videos, I've seen some screenshots on some amazing places while people explore so I thought why not post them in this thread and explain how they go about and where they have been.

I was just getting to explore the sights to where I was exploring (the entire Coal nebula), however, I was intercepted by a clean, Master level NPC who suicided into my windshield. There are a metric TON of heavy metal planets between the civilized area and route into the nebula. It's a shame that I will not be able to sell the data, 100+ systems "explored"; fully scanned each one. The kicker is, I made it 114LY away from known space in the 20 minutes for oxygen :\ Now the game just goes into a constant server crash upon destruction.

There's a few threads lying around but you have to search for them usually as they fall off the first page:

Collaborative exploration guide (in progress): https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=81653
Exploration Records: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=50952
Screenshot views: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=80753

Usually you can also find each explorer putting a thread up about their own adventures in the main forum so while going to that system 100k+ Ls away do an alt-tab and check the forums.

Might want to check the exploration guide because apparently there's a few other aspects and objects that count (object mass, neutron stars/black holes, class II gas giants etc.)

yes that was my point with this thread that we gather everything in this thread instead of spreading it around in different threads.
