I second this. Not meaning to be dismissive either, but KS is basically a funding venue, not a store.
if the t-shirt and mug was a KS reward i could agree with you, but the only mention of either on kickstarter is the t-shirt as part of the box set, nowhere is a mug mentioned.
i bought the items via the backers app in MAY, months after the kickstarter finished and AFTER they had already started delivering tshirts and mugs to backers.
by the time i paid for mine it seems they were out of stock of the t-shirts in my size, did i get an email informing me of this? NO
was any public announcement made informing people that further purchases of this item would be delayed? NO
the first i heard of it after that was a few weeks ago when i got an email informing me they had redesigned the t-shirt so i wouldn't be getting the one seen in the dev diary.
keep in mind that i ordered mine AFTER the shirt was shown off in said diary (so i thought i knew what i was ordering) and also keep in mind that 10 months after ordering i am still waiting for the mug i paid £20 for to turn up, then add the fact that the same item is now available in store for half the price and you may begin to see why this has wound me up so much. if it had been a different mug in the store i wouldn't of had a problem, but i was under the impression that those mugs were exclusive to backers, now i'm getting something that any old tom or harry could buy and its just doesnt seem worth it - its lost its exclusivity.
regardless of when the purchase was made the very least the FD could of done is keep people informed and they failed quite miserably on that score.
as for the argument that people buy things via kickstarter to get them cheaper in this case it is not at all valid as a t-shirt and a mug for £50 isn't cheap by any stretch of the imagination, a point that in emphasised by the fact they are now selling them £7 cheaper when p&p is taken into account.
