Seen a lot of comments in the various stormy threads about Offline play being removed, where people are misinterpreting the statement.
Nothing whatsoever has been said about Solo mode being removed. I think it's pretty safe to say you'll still be able to play in the sandbox all on your own. You'll just need an internet connection to do so.
Offline play, on the other hand, is a different kettle of fish, and while it is a solo game play style, it is not the method that FDEV are using. The reasons for requiring a connection are understandable - they want the game to be dynamic and ever changing, but don't want to have to install their entire database on your PC.
