"Oh     ! It's a corvette!"

Interesting story.

So I cruised over to Eravate (sp?) in my conda because I hadn't been there for a while, and when I jumped in I noticed an Imperial Courier flying about. I decided to maneuver to see to whom he was aligned, just because. He maneuvered away and I didn't think he was worth my while. I lost sight of him and two seconds later I was interdicted. "What?! He's interdicting me?! Time to teach him a lesson." At first I didn't want to bother fighting but then he won the interdiction and I got peeved. We dropped out of hyperspace and the first thing I noticed was that he was bigger than I thought he should be. I targeted him and saw it was a corvette! I exclaimed what I typed in the title and deployed my hard points. He rammed me and I lost two shield bars and he only lost one. I wasn't prepared for this so I didn't have any pips in shields. I wasn't setup for a prolonged fight so I decided to stow my hardpoints and book it. He took my shields down and targeted my drives. I initiated a spiral pattern while I tried to find a destination to jump. This is where a navigator would have come in really handy, because my boost button and my next panel button are the same. I fumbled the controls for a bit but finally selected a destination at 60% hull.
"Frame shift drive charging..."
"Module malfunction..."
"Shooooooooooot!" "I'm going to loose it," I thought.
I continued the spiral pattern and tried again to jump.
"Frame shift drive charging..."
"Module malfunction..." This went on till about 40% hull. Finally the FSD triggered and I jumped out.

Lesson learned, if you get interdicted by a commander, make sure you put all pips into shields because it's not the dead (the npc's) you have to worry about. It's the living.

PS: Sorry for the cussin'. But in this case it was necessary to properly describe the scene. :-D

Map a key or button to go into supercruise, you don't need a destination that way.

Haha, if only there was an end-game ship with a similar shape to a sidey - then you could hang around the starting system amidst the noobs, and wait for any insufficiently-observant seal-clubbers to inadvertently interdict you. :D

Ugh - hate the term "end-game". There are lots of commanders with 'vettes and cutters and 100 other ships who fly around having their most fun in DBE's and the like. Just sayin' ...

Good story and good lesson.

Nice story...

Corvettes are tough, but so are Condas... Good lesson learned, thanks for sharing.
I took on two A rated Conda's and a stealth cobra. Nearly won except for bad pip management on my end and the fact that I spent nearly 15 seconds shooting the empty ship of one of the people who combat logged.

I'd argue Vette is tougher and meaner.

:D Cutter and those are nice for trading, but the real fun is in the smaller ships.

This is the thread that has inspired me to (once I get the rank to purchase my Corvette) interdict small player ships to, instead of killing them, dump overboard multiple tonnes of expensive commodities like Painite, Platinum, etc. The entire purpose being to scare them being interdicted by a warship and then give them free stuff. Because I'm a monster.
Reverse Piracy.

It's pointless interdicting anyone in a Corvette, cos anyone can just run. The corvette is so slow, you will never catch them.
Some bigger ships may fight, but most run when their hull starts dropping.
i don't even carry an interdicter in my vette because of this.

It certainly might be, but I think it really depends on the ship config and the hability of the commander.

The other day I was kicked out of a CZ by two Elite Condas in my Cutter. Still fine tunning the ship and the technic to fly it.

I see no clear winner currently on the 3 big ships. Vette has the most firepower, Cutter strongest shields and Conda is balanced between...

I just stalk prey in my vette. Love how eagles splatter like bugs on the hull! Can't wait to try the new class 4 weapons on her too!
Much prefer the vette over my old conda, except the damn jump range.
