Just a heads up for all those wondering about the "1 out of 5 Ships will be free" issue (I remember seeing alot of discussions about it).

Looking at the Shipyard, I just found out I now have a Viper Mk.4 parked at Barnard's Star. Pretty sure that wasn't there yesterday.
Not exactly a practical location for me at 191LY distance *g* ... but it's there.

So all those who were wondering/asking/complaining ought to check their nearest Shipyard, chances are the promised Ship is now there :)

I bought a sidewinder as a map marker in Achenar, now I notice it's a jump away in Liabeze, what's that all about?

Just seen this thread, and I'm at Levi Strauss installation, Barnards Star. Quick look in system map and a ship icon in red at Miller Depot, about 30 LS away :). Off now to check it out!
Found it, flew it, sold it..
Is there a point to ships like this? If so I am just not getting it.

Yeah I'm planning to pick mine up tonight though I will probably only upgrade it enough to get it back to my home system for now.

IMO one of the best looking ships in game, not so hopeful about it's combat performance from what I heard but it could make an excellent weekend runabout....with rails :)

It fights well enough to kill NPC pythons. It's a good cheap ship for bubble exploration and planet landing. It's in my fleet and I'm happy to use it on occasion, the rebuy is so low I don't mind if I lose it but it' still good enough to do the job. It has it's place.

Got mine too at Barnard's Star. To get it back to home base I added the best FSD available at that base (which wasn't much to offer there) ... then drove it over to Shinrarta Dezhra to put the good stuff on it. Then headed home. I like it so far. I never really got into the Viper III but this one looks promising. I think I'll run some missions now. The rebuy is very economical.
