Oh, no I've lost 2 weeks of progress with my Anaconda

Just docked in a station with my nice Anaconda. And it happened, I lost 2 weeks work, 2 weeks of careful resource management. 2 weeks of progress.
I'm devastated, I'll have to do it all again. No way to get the progress back, I lost it all. I pushed the wrong button, a little sleepy, a little to fast.

I pressed the repair all button!
Now my Anaconda has a new paint. 2 weeks letting the paint get off, I managed to get it to 70%. Puff! Paint back at 100%
Maybe FD should add a warning - "Are you sure you want to repair the paint?"
Or maybe offer a "old, beaten up ship" skin? Would be cool.

:D

i really wish the paint wasn't included in the repair all button.
but to save you some time the anacondas paint doesn't degrade yet. Got mine below 50 and it still looked fly.

Totally agree OP!

I accidentally Repaired my 0% White Apollo Asp paint job. I was mortified.

Really want a check box system for the Repair page please Frontier.

Hint: one trip to Hutton Orbital should get the paint back down to low percentage, if you can handle the long journey :)

Oh, to bad. I really like space ships that look used and gritty.

I thought about that, but it feels like cheating to me.

Genuinely, I do wish paint was a seperate option other than going straight into the repair screen to view all of the broken modules etc, I'd really prefer some of my ships to have the battlescars rather than the fresh off the production line look that they have.

Excellent thread :)

My sympathies OP. I also wish that the paint degraded properly for all ships.. you're not the only one who likes the "battered crate" look!

lol, paint? Try losing a couple of months worth of exploration data by losing an argument with a space station wall. ;) (actually, don't... Just take my word for it that it is not very pleasant :D )

The paint serves no purpose as far as I can see except decoration. The market does not care in the slightest if their product arrives in a shiny bling ship or one with whatever paint remains is handing off so why would any pilot wanting to maximise profit bother with the condition of the paint? Maintenance of internal modules is a different matter though.

Now, when or if passengers are brought into the game it could be a different matter.

Wow, even thinking about it makes me cry. Never explored for so long and I really have to fly "home" if I find something valuable. "Oh a water world, got to go home!" Obviously I never managed to get really far away from "home" or find something really interesting. I can't help, but I play this game ultra save, don't know why. It's the first game that has this effect on me.

It should be something that affects the profit. Who want's to fly in a space ship that looks like it would fall apart anytime soon - even if it just looks like that.

I think that would make my head explode.

I'm currently ~4500 ly down the perseus arm. At first I though I would follow it into the central bar, but I guess i'm no Erimus and will probably take a shortcut somewhere :)

see you all out there,
Commander Benderson

I think mine did. I had to lie down and piece it back together.

I'm exploring again now, though (only a few thousand Lys out). I brought a docking computer with me. Not that I had a problem docking before, I was actually leaving the station. But anyway, such is life. I'm not the only explorer to have this experience (actual circumstances vary :) ).

Though in reply to original post, it would be good to be able to choose what to repair and what not to.

pffft, you kids with your fancy retro look paint jobs.. In my days we didn't have paint. or walls. or colour...

Happened to me, yesterday... My Python is back to shiny vibrant red:eek: I feel for you, I like the battle scars too.

I recall reading somewhere that it does affect the standing rewards from mission hand-ins, better kept ship = higher influence outcome. It's only a vague recollection though and may or may not be accurate...

I recall reading that damaged paint jobs mean you're more likely to be scanned by System Authorities around Stations.

Hah - I tried so carefully not to press repair all. After pressing the repair all several times I got the paint down to 87% (2-3 weeks). Then I flew in a RES in shadow (somewhere I have unsympathetically told people not to fly) and boom straight into a large unforgiving roid.

Who'd have thought it would be so hard to own a shabby looking ship? :)

How about a set of Knackered Old Rustbucket skins?

That was another part of the DDF dreaming which got left on the cutting room floor. Dumping the paintwork in with modules was a lazy solution to people saying they wanted to be able to allow their ship to get that beaten up look back when they massively hiked wear and tear.
