Oh, no I've lost 2 weeks of progress with my Anaconda

The easy fix would be to not list paintjobs at all via that interface. If you want a shiny new paintjob, go to outfitting and reapply it. Ditto decals.

I recall reading that damaged paint jobs mean you're more likely to be scanned by System Authorities around Stations.

No problem, I get scanned every single time I enter or exit a station - even those I'm allied with. Security Eagles love my Anaconda, they ram it from time to time. I'm flying a straight line and they boost so they can be directly in my way.
Guess with 1.3 I will have to fly really slow.

Edit: Oh, yea that would explain why I get scanned every single time. Thought it was about damaged paint skins, something that might or might not be included into the game at some point.

Especially on the Clipper it's very sad that you don't see a scratch, even when paint is low.

I thought Clipper pilots are doing everything to keep their ship polished and clean. Wouldn't it be dishonorable to fly a ship that looks like you might not be able to pay your debts? A scratch and everybody thinks you are just one small step away from imperial slavery.

There should be flower power decals for the Clipper. Somehow that thing looks like something hippies would use - and I'm not sure if they would use it as a transport or as something else.

 Really? What kind of hippy's are you talking about. Ram-rod straight backed, crew cut, clean shaven, impeccable uniformed hippies maybe?

Just docked in a station with my nice Anaconda. And it happened, I lost 2 weeks work, 2 weeks of careful resource management. 2 weeks of progress.
I'm devastated, I'll have to do it all again. No way to get the progress back, I lost it all. I pushed the wrong button, a little sleepy, a little to fast.

I pressed the repair all button!
Now my Anaconda has a new paint. 2 weeks letting the paint get off, I managed to get it to 70%. Puff! Paint back at 100%
Maybe FD should add a warning - "Are you sure you want to repair the paint?"
Or maybe offer a "old, beaten up ship" skin? Would be cool.

:D
Fly save and always with insurance!

I feel your pain, I did the very same thing at 80%

Happened to me, yesterday... My Python is back to shiny vibrant red:eek: I feel for you, I like the battle scars too.

I don't know why, but my paint is scratched again to the level before I hit the repair-all button, and I didn't use her since then... If it was an unknown FDEV, a BIG thank you:) - otherwise it's just magic!

Every clipper comes standard with a complement of "paint polishing slaves" that live in the airducts of your ship and come out every time you dock to give your ship that "fresh off the slave assembly factory" shine!

i really wish the paint wasn't included in the repair all button.
but to save you some time the anacondas paint doesn't degrade yet. Got mine below 50 and it still looked fly.

This. It should be required to use its distinct option in the detailed repair screen, just like wear&tear.

Really. I think of the long haired, herbs smoking type of hippies. Every time I see a Clipper I start humming "Let's go to San Fransisco" and I swear I've heard the sound of a Sitar now and then while seeing a Clipper. That ship just needs flower decals, lot's of flowers and peace signs and rainbows. It's the VW transporter of Elite (T1-T2). All the imperial commanders just don't realize that the rest of the galaxy laughs at the look of that ship. A Boing 707 looks nastier. It is a very capable ship in combat, now doubt about that. But that look. A baby seal looks like a wild, dangerous predator compared to a Clipper.

Take the Clipper, don't repair the paint, add flower decals, remove the weapons and go on a magical mystery tour.

That's what I expected. The slaves polish and the commander is probably reading the Vogue or surfs the GalNet for the latest fashion tips or in which restaurant the it-girl-senator ate her dinner last night.

I remember back in the beta when visual wear and tear was given accelerated values so your ship would get the beaten up look fairly quickly. I've got some ace screenshots of ships looking, well, frankly a bit beaten up. At the moment they look too 'perfect' since the repair all resprays the paint. I would definitely support the removal of paint from the 'repair all' option. :)

The scratches to the front of my Viper are my favourite bit of this shot!
