oh noes, death

Flight assist off? Never on a high gravity planet.
Or are you pitching down and glide towards the surface? Only until about 150 meters. Then I just settle down vertically by easing off the vertical thrusters.

I usually use "Engine Focused" mod on an undersized PD so I can still boost. https://eddp.co/u/Kr5CXFoZ

Cool thanks, that's a good idea about the PD actually. I'll try that when I'm back. Also thanks for the video reference. :)

you guys are awesome. What a lovely community. Thanks for all the hints. See you ingame . CMDR Aina Stormborn (14y EVE veteran, now finally in ED)

New addition to my high gravity landing collection...

Second proper landing at 8:05

Jump to 9:35 for some testing and demonstration of how flight assist and thrusters behave in high gravity.

Oh and btw Rhea Lorell, on that fist landing, excess speed may have been a contributing factor ;)

It's pretty stupid with all the tecnology in the galaxy that you can't send your data back while on a long trip. The devs really need to fix that. You shouldn't lose your data when you crash.

If the devs ever changed it so you don't lose exploration data on death, you'd see explorers dropping like flies. It'd basically be an "instant return for your rebuy cost" button.

I hadn't thought of that. It always seemed a bit rough losing all your data like that but when you look at it that way.

However and I think that this has been mentioned before... your data could be jettisoned in a data canister. When you respawn you are informed of the location and can retrieve it. But it also appears as a USS for anyone else to get in the meantime.

Excellent, that gives pirates a legitimate reason to target explorers as they come home...

Erm.

"Drop 2 Million worth in exploration data or you will not see your beloved again!"

Would be great!
Actually piracy as playstyle needs buffs aswell :)
