oh the grief continues...

Could the people griefing at Azeban just give it a rest?

Please can people use this thread to talk about the possibilities to avoid any such action of "griefing" while in station areas. Arguing over what a "griefer" is etc. is totally counter productive to the matter. If no one understands what it is then look it up.

The problem with this is while they can grief - they will.

Nothing any of us can do about it.

Yep! and we, the ones who suffer from the grief, also get punished by moderators on the forum if we name and shame...

I'd like to know who the ones are causing the problems with griefing so that I can avoid them not retaliate! Why fight back when you can outrun/out maneuver them and make there griefing become boring to them? atleast that way they might just give up and play the game properly. I mean what do people get from just smashing others ships to pieces 10 meters outside the stations...

Sure i would love too get some payback, who are we attacking?

I have no idea. Let's be safe and assume that everyone is a griefer and just shoot everyone on sight. The only sensible place to do this is right outside the space station of course.

It's the only way to be sure!

Griefing has been an on going topic since Alpha 2, and with Premium Beta arriving its obviously a big issue with players who want to play the game the way the game is supposed to be played. its only going to get worse when Standard beta arrives and the other 30,000 beta players join in.

I would like to think that FD have something in place regarding unprovoked attacks on other players as I can guess that many players wont be interested in getting the Elite Rank when the game goes public and will only want to go around shooting at anything that moves.

I also see grouping playing a major role in stopping griefers, as time goes by I can see more and more players joining large groups that only want to play the game the way its meant to be played leaving griefers to their own devices.

Genius...

It's not just that I want to play the game the way its meant to be played. My biggest motivation for joining now was to help in the development of the game, testing for bugs, adding suggestions for improvements etc. not to be trapped in station zones half of the time.

The main reason I would like a name and shame system is so that the developers could spend a short amount of time just putting out warnings to these people with a consequence of temporary, short term exclusions. If people want to grief others all the time, what interest do they truly have in the developing stages of the game?

Well you are a bounty hunter... surely that's good trade for you!

G

It would be if there were a Bounty Bulletin Board of some kind to allow players like myself to go after the bounties. Something like that wouldn't be to allow players to lock onto the criminals signal or anything but just to allow access to a list of names which we could then use keep an eye out.

Even if you have no interest in collecting the bounties you could still use it to make sure you avoid any contact with the the criminals on your travels. That sort of system would work very well for people only looking to haul cargo and trade, especially when trade ships aren't designed for head on combat

What could possibly go wrong? I like it!

Ya got Moxie, Hithdraug. Ya got Moxie, and I like that in a Commander!

+Rep for almost making my drink come out my nose. :D

This is planned for the full game I believe. Notorious pirates or murders (whatever term suits) will make it onto newsfeeds with information on last known location. Sounds like quite an interesting game dynamic. Can't wait for it myself. :)

While I am still firmly tongue-in-cheek about all this (and I have firm confirmation from Psychokow than tounging oneself is not infractable - but I wonder how he knows that) there are many options open to people.

They just need to explore different possibilities.

Do peeps seriously think that coming out of a space station leads to immediate ganking? How many of them boost out, full speed straight ahead?

Try sneaking out, running cold, systems off, crawl along the toast-rack and back up over the station like a snail using directional thrusters only. You don't light up, and if anyone is close enough to shoot at you - they'll likely hit the station. Oops.

You can't find high-profit trade goods? Settle for mid-profit ones then!

Go to random places, help the Fed space cows blow up pirates and scoop up their cargo and run to Freeport like a bat out of hell.

Get interdicted by three Cobra's and run for it.

Get interdicted by three Cobra's and get them to shoot each other! Then scoop up what's left.

All sorts of possibilities here ladies and gentlemen. I have done all of the above, and you can too - and I am an average pilot at best.

Set up an off-forum list to name and shame - I'd assume that wouldn't violate the T&C as it's already being done, on a limited basis, via youtube. It'd also start the testing on out-game community actions.

Good idea! I'll probably check with the T&C first though, already i annoyed the mods with my response to someone who purposely attacked me and destroyed me in a cobra while being part of the same faction in a combat zone... I don't really like the idea of creating problems for myself trying to help others and possibly pulling them into the issues

Amazing! yeah i look forward to seeing it implemented :D

...I mean what do people get from just smashing others ships to pieces 10 meters outside the stations...

It's just mindless, bored child's play... probably perpetrated by those of all age groups. There's so many of them out there, dim-witted folks unable to lose themselves in the immersive space adventure FD is creating for us; and they're why, for those of us who are imaginative, mentally creative, fun-loving and awe-inspired by the prospect of playing a modern day Elite game, Single Player will end up being the haven for enjoying this game.

These low-witted doofuses will kill multiplayer sooner or later, and while that doesn't bother ME particularly, it's a shame for those who had high expectations for a truly awesome all group experience.

What's also a shame is how much time and effort FD will spend trying to right a intrinsically failed multiplayer universe when they could be pumping maximum effort into the single player experience. As a fan of the single player modes, this is what really galls me.

Then again, it's early, and maybe FD will do wonders in mitigating such behavior. Hope so.

The current iteration of the Beta has no police.

Therefore every system is in effect an anarchy system.

Ergo do not be surprised if you are attacked.

In my opinion it is good practice. :)
