Oh yeah, this is an MMO!

...So this happened.

No biggy, just interdicted by.. A PLAYER. Holy crap (can I say that?), first time i've even seen an actual player in this game. Was about to blow away what I thought was just another pirate NPC.

Had a nice chat with the guy.

400 Billion solar systems... I guess I better start getting used to the loneliness.
I will forever treasure this encounter.. *wipes tear*

I sometimes see other commanders. But when I do I try to say Hi!

But if they've got a 200Cr bounty then my guns do the talking :D

Excellent! I guess when encounters like this are as rare as they are, it becomes less fun to simply shoot each other out of the sky. It's nice in some ways to see that we look for human contact more than we look for violence. Nicely done commanders!

200cr is not worth the time. Plus you'll give the guy a bad day for probably just accidentally hitting a fed ship that flew in front of him. Unless he interdicted you of course. If I get interdicted I assume it is hostile.

I've seen a lot of players and have chatted with a few. Only had a bad run-in with a group of players once. But most of the time they've been friendly.
It does get pretty lonely out there, so just seeing that 1 hollow rectangle on the radar can brighten up your day to know that you're not alone.

I felt the same way playing Dark Souls.

I have met like 3 people so far, and when I check flight logs at stations I visit, I am mostly the only one being there in 24 hours. Guess I am in pretty remote part of empire space.

Not that I care. I really enjoy my time alone to myself.

I see plenty of other player ships all the time, but interacting with them is rare. Personally I like it that way. It makes each "interactive" encounter much more worth remembering and of course it "feels" more real. After all you don't go out in the street and talk up to every passing .

Hmmmmm I see human commanders every single time I play, I always scan around the station or system I'm in.

I've only been in combat 3 times with human players since launch though.

I suppose the difference there is the sight of other people in real life so so common. But if you go without seeing a person in weeks, this kind of thing happens :D

I suppose I am partially to blame for the lack of human encounters. From the moment of game release I headed straight out into the nearest empire space I could find, which was a good 60LY away. (I was in the heart of Federation space)

Ive seen a quite few, but only one has spoke to me. The rest ignore but I'm just as guilty. I think I'm going to start making an effort to talk to all the fellow humans I pass incase they are feeling like they are all alone. Some new players probably dont know the difference between a human and a NPC and pass loads without even knowing.

I see plenty of players around the Alliance capital, and I interdict them half the time (when it's not out of my way) just to say hi, but also to see them crap their pants (most ships are Sides or Adders with a sprinking of Cobras and Vipers). I've never hurt anyone.

Yet.

I do wish Elite Dangerous had more mechanics to actually interact with other players other than mining together or blowing each other up.

Nevertheless, I try to hail all my fellow Imperians/Non-Imperians/Federation Scum whenever I see them!

You could work together to blow others up. 2 humans working together could probably take out anything they felt like, except maybe 3+ humans working together.

I love how the elite galaxy is probably 2x as big as the real milky way, so derp :p. Space is very big, since launch I've seen loads of players near LHS 3447, Portiti and Eravate

It's lonely out in the black, and often dangerous. But being friendly to your fellow Pilot's Federation Members is always a good start! Say, HI, when you meet someone!

Funny, just after typing my answer above (and forgetting half the words .. I blame the stupid table keyboard) I went out to mine in an otherwise "unexplored" system (which I have mapped), so I flew to one of the asteroid rings with my hauler and was met by another player mining in his green Mk3. We even chatted, tried out whether players all get the same from the same asteroid and whether asteroids deplete for everyone (nope on both), then mined a bit in silence and then I said goodbye and flew off to sell the palladium that was weighting down my FSD. Chance encounters. much more fun than global chat spamming.

When in open I see humans all the time. I never initiate interaction.
Only twice someone attacked me. I never attack humans myself.
These attacks were totally incomprehensible to me as they must have seen that I had a lot more combat experience.
Their loss.

More humans if you know where to look for...

In starter systems you see players all the time.
Try LHS 3447 you will see tons of players there and other close by systems like Eravate...

You can also look in the "Dangerous Groups" forum. I made a few friends there. You can team up for trading or fighting.

I wish there were "wings" in the game but they say it's coming soon next year (split mission revenues and wanted bounty, warzone revenues etc).

That'll be cool

Cheers,
