Brand new, fresh paintwork. The first fresh paintwork I've had for nearly four months.

Yep. After the massive race that was my 16KLy challenge took me most of the way (back*) to Colonia, I've been zooming and scooping and generally burning through cups of tea, alcohol and E-juice on my mission to get back to Obambivas for February the 6th. I arrived in Colonia about an hour ago.

I'm at Dove Enigma at the minute, having handed in 123 mil of exploration data. So far, the standing total of credits made since I set out in September is about 226mil. Sure there are easier ways to make the cash, but it's not a small amount of credits .

Well, I suppose I'd better get back to flying. 43KLy down, 22KLy to go.

Maybe I'll buy a Chieftain when I get back.
Or an Anaconda .

Just done almost the same thing myself.

Except that I treated my AspX to a whole new, erm, ship to hang the modules off.

Thing is, I wanted my exploration ship to have a different name and, as everybody knows, it's bad luck to change a ship's name and, besides, my old explorer served me well and didn't deserve "re-processing".
So, I bought a new AspX, swapped all the exploration modules across to it and then rebuilt my old explorer as a pretty nifty all-rounder.

Just waiting for Thursday to come around so I can buy a bunch of Mining Lances and then I'll be all set to go and get the fresh paint all scratched up.

Hm... that weathered orange paint jobs remind me battered construction equipment. Just add yellow blinking light, beeping sound and you can hire yourself as a cement mixer.

Even though I don't exactly like ASP, or, crusty metal lakon table canopy idea in general, repped those fabolously battered looking hunks of buckets there, because they look so fine.

ps: Why the 50 ton (probably) spoiler ducktaped on the back? Need that downforce to explore fast?

3 Possible choices:-

1) It adds to the dynamic stability of the ship during sub-orbital flight.
2) It is an aerodynamic housing for a multispectral antenna array.
3) I paid for the whole ship kit so I'm going to use it all, and that spoiler is the best of a bad bunch.

Just a question: doesn't the paint errosion help to cause damage to your hull on long epic journeys like that - even if you're equipped with afm?

The hull integrity is a separate thing, you can repair one without repairing the other. AFAIK they aren't connected, aside from the fact that both degrade in SC.

I prefer the look of the old... seems more realistic
