I haven't been able to log in over the past several weeks or so due to toddlers and work (and now seemingly bugs, haha) but was speccing out a Chieftain (cause why not?) and nipped on to Inara to see if I had enough cash in the bank to cover the purchase I was looking at.

Got me to thinking as I looked at the balance, which hasn't changed since the last transaction several weeks ago... shouldn't we be earning interest on our savings as you would through any bank? There my earnings sit - day in, day out - with BoZ doing with it what any normal bank would do (cough) which is I'm assuming investing the hell out of it and making money, but we - the commanders scraping and earning a living - get nothing back from depositing our heard-earned coin in there.

Any good investment banker will get you over 8% per annum on a decent investment. Most current accounts will even offer a couple of percent on your savings while it sits there.

So c'mon, Zaonce. Stop stiffing the working folk, and give us our fair due! Start of each month, players should get 0.1% of that month's average balance (or hell, even lowest balance) added into their accounts.

And then docking fees, storage fees, and other such costs should be taken from your balance, yes? :)

Interest for the Bank of Zaonce goes the same place as a whole bunch of other things that "should" get you more money than they do: right to the Pilot's Federation.

Where do you think the money comes from to subsidize "insurance" payouts and equipment purchases?

And no doubt some pilots might add to that "Oi, Bank of Zaonce - WHERE'S MY LOAN??!?" if they don't have enough insurance to cover their loss...!! :p

LOL. That brings back fond memories of Taipan on an Apple ][+, as well as using the Moneylender payoff bug to crash the game through racking up a negative balance.

Good times....too long gone...
